^ yeah, really. There's at least three or four names there that no real punk fan would accept, and about two dozen bands that should have been listed instead. If this was a prog list, it'd have Styx but not Crimson.

(If you're really interested in punk, I'd be happy to help you a little with your homework...not that I'm an expert or anything)

The Jam, probably not real punk, but The Sex Pistols was a boy-band, so why not add some real musicians in there.

Inner City Unit. Their Output is not all punk, but Passout and Punkadelic are very punky indeed. And there is some prog relation too due to their sax player and singer Nik Turner.

no offense dude, but those are some lame options, blink 182 and good charlotte are not true punk..busted,mcfly and offspring are ok but not among the best, wheres the mc5?, wheres black flag?, the minutemen?, television?, richard hell and the voidoids?...nirvana are one of my favorite bands, but even though they had the punk attitude, they are not punk rock by genre, they are alternative rock with metal and punk influences...so they shouldnt be there...out of these options, i vote the ramones.

hate this!!! But I would like to say Minor Threat and Black flag, The Exploited: ones of the best who represented the 70's in the most aggressive genre.

Rancid and No fx are not punk at all...there's no punk revival

However there's a prog rock revival but outside of the so called metal prog music

Soon, punk splintered into post-punk (which was more experimental and artier than punk), new wave (which was more pop-oriented), and hardcore, which simply made punk harder, faster, and more abrasive.  Although I dont listen to punk much anymore, I'll go with Iggy. Even in the early 70s before the punk explosion, he was really what punk is all about. Hes influenced everyone from Johnny Rotten to Cobain to Green Day. The Stooges "Fun House" album still sounds better than alot of the so-called punk.

The Sex Pistols.

Nirvana is alternative/grunge. Need to have groups in the poll such as: The New York Dolls, Magazine, The Buzzcocks, The Stranglers, Wire, Souxie and The Banshees, The Dead Kennedys for starters. Not a very good choice offered

I like punk, just punk in general is a good style of music. I don't see what everyone's problem with it is. What, is everyone too closed minded to go outside the usual norms of their music tastes and listen to something different? So what if it's simple and popular? That doesn't mean it's bad.

Good Charlotte is punk?

Nirvana!! Although I don't consider them a punk band.
