I suppose that it's what my ears are hearing. This was already suggested, but due to inactivity and apathy (or lack of attention / motivation), the thread went to eternal damnation of this section.
So again, this band is suggested. I also saw this band on other prog sites. Even this is not order for us to include them, it should tell us something. Hint of some kind

Finnish guys play very melodic mixture of sympnonic prog from 70-s with some pop and classic influences, incl choral voices. The sound is quite typical for "new wave of Finnish prog" - all music is based on Hammond characteristic sound plus vintage guitar sound as well. At the same time, drumming is more modern, some other elements as well ( rare metal guitar peces, etc). Sound mix is light and very well rounded. For sure there is some influence of RPI.
All in all - quite pleasant listening, easy accessible, but far not too original to be really interesting. I think could be classified as symphonic, or eclectic.

And believe me, these samples are nothing in compare to what their music (talking about Aramed, only album I own) is like. I mean, they're not bad, but they're way better.

You have album, or are you evaluating just samples ? If samples, then I have to say that it look good for them :-) And why I sometimes have feeling of Queen (guitars, sometimes) And again, it sounds little bit like 70's version 2. Or 3, 4 ... 9 maybe. Upgraded, polished a lot version of old sounds. With added new influences (like you said) New album would be nice. But first, I have to get somewhere their other one.
After all, a lot of vintage prog is here on PA. Think of reasons why they are here. Thanks guys. Having them here would be honor for me.

I didn't own their album, just listened many samples. And I have listened many other Finnish prog bands, mostly modern ones, they have few trends now, so more or less I can imagine, where Khatsaturjan depend on. Another thing - it isn't a music I know in deep, just my semi-pro opinion

I agree on many things you said, but mostly, one thing that hit my mind instantly (after you said it) is that really, it's the sound.
I forgot this myspace link (as I haven't checked it yet), there are probably samples too. So, typical average symphonic prog of these days ? :-)

Marty, have you contacted the Symph guys?

I did, they (Iván, whose opinion I value) said it's rather Heavy, or Crossover.
The problem is that it's Art Rock (at least from a big part) and as such, it has hard time to "get somewhere" here, because Art Rock category is no longer used. Maybe this is why I still hear Symphonic influences in this music, Art Rock & Symphonic styles are connected.

http://bandzone.cz/votchi Im not. in fact Ive never heard about them, but I surely will try them. Check this link, I think that in this Flash element should be some samples.
Yes, Prog Rock is strange thing that always makes me curious, wondering and confused.
Lets propose them for Crossover then. But Im still waiting what Ivan will say.

Hey guys:
1.- If the team foirmed by Micky, Raff, HT and me consider it's not Symph
2.- Logan considers them Crossover
No way they are Symphonic.

OK Iván, it looks like I should check definition of Symphonic again. I heard symphonic melody and considered it Symphonic Prog. If Crossover is the place where it should be, then I'm all for it. The important thing is to get them here, if it's possible :-)

There are symphonic elements in composition and sound, but I can understand Ivan when saying they're not enough. This should go to Crossover indeed. I'll pass it on.

I agree with Alex, most bands (Except Avant, Rio, Prog Metal amd those extre, meluy complex), havesome Symphonic elements, but only some of them fit in the genre.
When we checked them back in 2006, we choosed Art Rock which means Eclectic or Heavy Prog or Crossover, I believe the mainstream elements are strong so Eclectic is not the best option and I believe it's or Heavy Prog (the lighter side of the sub-genre) or Crossover (Believe it's perfect there)...But it's Olav's call and I respect it.
But that they belong in PA is a fact for me.

Thanks for describing it to me. I still lack these soft nuances when considering music to certain genre. But you know this album called "progression by failure". Failure won't cost much and learned lesson is valuable. Therefore, thanks :-)
I will change title of this topic.
