"WDHA-FM (105.5), New Jersey's Rock station reported on the air today that, according to front-man Geddy Lee, he was ready to begin work on the next Rush album in the fall of this year. Citing 2005 as a 'family year', he was hoping to get bored enough over the summer in preparation for the rigors of recording a new album. He also stated that he hoped to begin the new disc sometime 'after the [baseball] World Series'."

New Rush album in the fall, eh?
Can someone send Geddy a Ricky 4001, some kind of Moog and an
Oberheim OB-X before the baseball season ends then - maybe we'll get
back to the good times with them!

Geddy's Fender Jazz sounds great. HE sounds great, he's just a fantastic bass player. Yeah, the Jazz is more trebly but at least it's got depth. As long as he doesn't return to a Wal, we're fine. (But again, it's the player, not the instrument.)

I can't wait to hear what they cook up next.

Signed,

The Guy Who Likes Vapor Trails

I agree. Rush kicks ass and they need another album that is like thier albums from the 70s. Like Fly by night or Caress of steel, even better 2112. That would be really nice.

Isn't the new one going to be called A Reed Lover Moment?

How about a two at ten is a ten at two?

Or maybe thats the next Joe Walsh album.

That's great news

Even better if they decide to come touring in England to promote it

Rush - Losing It

Can you say "comeback album," though that was supposed to be Vapor Trails for obvious reasons. I hope this will be good. We need more extended tracks with weird themes. Like Hemispheres. I hope they won't make a "mature" album. I want some fun and nonchalance.

i was dissappointed when I heard a year or so ago that Rush was back in the studio. first, i thought "YES!" until it was said that it would be a cover album.

Then i was mad AngryAngryAngry and sad CryCryCry

But now I hope to be happy again.SmileSmile

I'm ready for something a little more technical. I wanna hear music that only Rush can play. Depite the fact that there are tribute albums, I think Rush is basically un-cover-able. I wish they would record something really technical and sick that is unmistakably Rush and so unique that other bands think, "well... we can't do that !".

Well, I must say I haven't bought "Vapour Trials" yet, because I was disappointed by "Test for Echo"...

It's hard to foresee how the next album woluld be like, but thinking of the last 2 albums, this might be very similiar, so not very interesting... But who knows...?

Well I'd have to say 'Counterparts' is my favourite 90's album, so something similiar to that would be good, although I do like it when Rush change there sound so maybe we'll all be surprised!

And then you get a tour as well, and seeing as I missed the R30 tour due to freshers week, It's gotta be done.

Something combining the power of 'Conterparts' with the melodies and feel of 'Signals' with the sheer class of 'Moving pictures' would be nice..

Please...

I can't share your optimism, guys - Rush released their last decent album 12 years ago...

^^I  dont agree. VP and Counterparts are far better than decent. Though T4E was rather mediocre. Any way IŽd like something that would combime the experimental, epic compositions of the past with the inteligent melodic ones they are now releasing.

I agree with you on this.  I hope they bring back some keys for texture and some solos from Alex.  I could also go for a nice 10-15 masterpiece.

Trust me on this one.  Vapor Trails cannot be viewed in terms of TFE.  It's a very different album.

You're so right, Gedhead. They're completely different albums. TFE had a few good songs on it (notably the title track, Driven, Time and Motion and the instrumental), but too much of it was filler. On the other hand, VT was a much less easy album, with a very raw sound, but I found it grew on me, although slowly. Anyway, I don't think Rush will do anything like either TFE or VT, as it is their way to change and evolve.

Well, I didn't know that... I haven't read VT reviews, but I see this album is not their best, but maybe a bit better than T4E...
Anyway, next album may be interesting...
