Thick as a Brick has a better realization of the concept, and more
memorable tunes, IMHO, but a Passion Play doesn't lag far behind. The
project never really worked out for poor Ian Anderson, so it's amazing
that he got such a good album out of it.

TAAB by miles! A good example of how two apparently similar albums can turn out so differently. For the missing link between them, try the Nightcap (unreleased tracks) album.

thick as a brick, but passion play is excellent too. ahhh, if only VDGG made only one album very similar to passion play!! IMO passion play is one of the most similar prog albums to VDGG!

Thick As A Brick, hands down. I find Passion Play nearly unlistenable!

Passion play ........

listen to them. Then realize the depth in 'A passion play' is staggering. You will still be discovering elements in it years later, just give it time. Thick as a brick is like a pop song compared to it.

Hmmmmmm....What a tough decision.

'A Passion Play' always struck me as a little more unique than 'Thick as a Brick', though I love TAAB to death as well.

It's close, but I'd have to go with 'A Passion Play'.

Lyrics wise, concept wise Thick As A Brick is infinitely better ...

Musically Thick As A Brick is narrowly better, although my favourite bits of A Passion Play outdo the best bits of Thick As A Brick

Does that make any sense?

"Death to Utopia! Death to faith! Death to love! Death to hope?" thunders the 20th century. "Surrender, you pathetic dreamer.”

"No" replies the unhumbled optimist "You are only the present."
