And please state why you think so, if you wish.

I exclude Obama as he has not completed a term yet.

I'm not a huge fan of any of them. Reagan would definitely take it though for his economic policy through most of his tenure, relations with Russia, and general inspiration.

Purely for the fact that he's the robot president of the future.

I would vote for the one who was not involved in a war. Is there such a US president from this list?

Ah, a troika Nixon/Reagan/Bush Jr. would have been the perfect American PolitBuro!

Oh, let's see.  Nixon got into office promising to have a secret plan to end the Vietnam war while his team negoted behind the scenes to prevent peace, then proceeded to prolong it.  Used dirty tricks that weren't even necessary to gain a second term.  Ford, only gained the office by virtue of being the Vice President.  Thank God Agnew had to resign before Ford got put in the vice slot.  Most memorable for getting shot by Squeaky Fromme and Chevy Chase's godawful impressions of him on Saturday Night Live.  Carter.  Favorite whipping boy of the conservatives.  Didn't make it to a second term because Reagan's team did secret negotiations with the Iranians to prolong the hostages being held.  There is no coincidence in the hostages being released as he was being inaugurated.  Carter at least went on to be a major force for good in post presidency.  Reagan cut taxes on the rich, raised them for the rest of us.  Presided over a ridiculous "defense" build up that enriched "defense" contractors to our detriment.  Contrary to popular mythology he did not end the cold war by doing so.  The Soviet Union was collapsing itself and would have fallen apart all the same.  George HW Bush.  Failure primarily because of the fallout of the godawful Reagan policies.  Unfortunately had a son who would become another godawful president.  Clinton was accused of multiple scandals by his political enemies and then was stupid enough to hand them one that was utterly inconsequential to his role as president.  Would have been a great president had he been as liberal as he was accused of being.  W, most notable for having possibly the most evil vice president in history.  Only got the job because a supreme court dominated by "conservatives" basically appointed him president.  Responsible for throwing away a budget surplus, letting us get attacked by terrorists, two wars that he didn't even bother to finish...

I do believe when it comes to our presidents we are really cursed as a country. LOL

Of course the verdict is still out on Obama.  Like Clinton, unfairly attacked by his political opponents.  Will not be as liberal as he is accused of being and is in serious danger of being a one-termer.  For god's sake man, ignore the "conservatives" and do what's right for the country.

^ i've chosen to write you off rather than argue with you about history, since it is rather apparent you have no inderstanding (or care) of (or for) the country as founded and the proper role of the President and federal government as defined by the Constitution.

While I wouldn't classify him as a good president, I agree that Carter gets too much hate. I can't even count how many times I've seen someone in a terrible op-ed in the Washington Times whine about the sweater thing because it didn't project America's conspicous consumption dominance. That was a good idea and the right thing to do! Sure, the energy thing didn't really pan out in his term, but it's still a problem today and is getting to be a bigger problem. And he never used the word malaise in that speech! HOWEVER:

ARE YOU SERIOUS?
Did it ever occur to you that they released the hostages because Reagan had repeatedly said that he was smart/irresponsible enough to go bomb the hell out of Iran in retaliation?

That depends how strictly you define the word "war". Does giving aid to Afghanistand count? The Cold War? What about bombing Bosnia to stop them from committing genocide? I assume I also don't need to mention how short-sighted your position it?

The very fact that he picked Carter should be more of the laughing point than the questionable history.

I would assume that you meant Serbia and that you're talking about the Kosovo war in 1999.
Because I don't remember any bombing on Bosnia, except from the Serbian army against the Croatian forces, then the Bosnian populations between 1991 and 1995.

Yeah, I get them mixed up. But the point remains about whether or not just bombing somebody counts as a "war".

Well, I cannot tell about internal politics, but Carter is really a mess in the international relations... I mean, he is as communist as an American can be... with double faces and lies all the way... his diplomatic actions against every Latin American Military governments are there, he encourages most of the revelions in Latin America, which is a main problem about the international relation of US. Now they talk about soberanity and respectful of each country government, but Carter was the first to close the army market and promoting international isolation to the military governments in Latin America, where is the independence of the countries...? and then he remains as the priecher of the "left" in whole the continent... for his actions and speeches he seems to encourage every country to reach a local Fidel Castro in every Country... is all I can say about Carter...

Nixon - Not the most ethical president, however he did do some good.... established relations with China and started the Environmental Protection Agency

Ford - Kind Of A Joke

Carter - Useless..... Inflation, High Unemployment, Hostages In Iran. Hes had a much better career as a retired president, he was just not a good politician.

Reagan - Ushered in an era of Republican dominance and fake patriotism, tax cuts for the wealthy, destroyed middle class.... Cold war ended on his watch, its debatable if it was because of his policies... also iran contra was a huge mess

H.W Bush - At least he had the decency to end the wars he started!!!!

Clinton - Low Unemployment, Surplus.... Failed to get healthcare passed and there was that Lewinsky Scandal which he let dominate the last few years of his presidency.

Bush - Destroyed the good work that Clinton did, left us with 2 wars and the worst economy since the great depression

I guess its a tie between Nixon and Clinton
