In continuation of my meager attempt to divert some PA forum discussion time away from Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater and the other usual suspects, here is my 6th installment of Rushfan4's New CD Discussion Thread.   This month's album that I think that others would enjoy and like to discuss is Brother Ape's Turbulence.

Here is a link to their PA page. http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=1633 - http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=1633

Here is a link to their official website. http://www.brotherape.com/ - http://www.brotherape.com/

The album can be downloaded from Amazon.com, where the songs can be sampled.  http://www.amazon.com/Turbulence/dp/B002TE2J4A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1260219303&sr=8-1 - http://www.amazon.com/Turbulence/dp/B002TE2J4A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1260219303&sr=8-1

A better option would be to go to Mindawn.com, where the songs can be listened to up to 3 times before the album has to be purchased.  This can be found here.    http://www.mindawn.com/albums/6073 - http://www.mindawn.com/albums/6073

Brother Ape are a jazz rock/fusion / Neo band from Sweden, and Turbulence is their 4th release.  I really feel that this band should be receiving more notice here on ProgArchives than it has had over the years.

Give them a listen.  See what you think.  And come back to this thread and discuss them.  I am hoping that we have a little success here and maybe we can do it for other lesser known newer releases.  Either rate, let me know what you think.

And in case you missed the first five installments of the New CD discussion thread please check them out here at thes links:

I should note that for those who frown about these things, I am not a representative of any of these bands.  I do not get paid to endorse them.  All of these albums are albums that I purchased as downloads.  They are all albums that I have really enjoyed and therefore I am trying to bring them to the attention of PA members so that they may enjoy them to.  Obviously, I can't guarantee that anyone else will like these albums since it is all a matter of taste, but I have a feeling that there are some of you out there who will. LOL

I should also mention that although I am a Collaborator here at PA, this thread and recommendation is made entirely independently of my duties as a PA collaborator, and is also totally independent of the PA Artist of the Month that is endorsed by mailto:M@x - M@x , the site's owner.

One of these days, Scott, I'm going to check out one of the bands you recommend each month. And hopefully someday all of them. LOL But Brother Ape sounds really intriguing at least, so I'll have to check out Mindawn.com and give the album it's 3 listens. That should be enough, given that I can (usually) tell whether or not an album is going to grow on me any after a maximum of 3 listens.

I know. Too much good music, too little available time and financial resources.

I'm just trying to share bands that I run across, that I think others will like, but I never really see discussed.  Hopefully, by finding the availability of free listens on Mindawn more people will participate in this thread by coming here and telling us what they think.  Good or bad or indifferent.

I shall check it out after Miles Davis. Sounds interesting. Also, I really like the three free listens thing.

Thanks for the head's up on these guys Scott.  I'll have to give them a whirl once some funds free up.

For the record, I love what you're doing with these threads.

Not much activity within this thread for this album.  I am giving this one more listen for the "month" (extended by the holidays Wink) and thus giving this thread one more bump.  I shall return in a day or two with my next recommendation, assuming that something comes to mind.
