This should be interesting, methinks. Big smile I'll post my choice later.

This is a tough one.  The only album in the bunch that isn't very good overall is Hot Space, although that does have a few good tracks, Taylor's "Action This Day", May's "Put Out the Fire" and "Las Palabras De Amor" and of course, "Under Pressure".  Love The Game, The Miracle, and The Works, so probably one of those three.  A Kind of Magic I like a lot, and Flash Gordon is quite an interesting album, and while I enjoy the instrumental nature of most of the album, Mercury's vocals are missed.   Gonna have to decide between one of the three "The" albums.  It may take awhile.

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

A Kind of Magic ... there can be no contest. I know that some people find it cheesy, but the songwriting is just so utterly fantastic, plus the (usual) top notch musicianship.

I have a soft spot for the Flash Gordon soundtrack, but The Game is it; pure classic :-)

The Game. First use of synthesizers in Queen albums, first serious change of direction ( using some new wave/synth pop elements), but still a great album.

I am a big fan of The Highlander movies and TV series, and therefore enjoy A Kind of Magic the most.

The Game, has two of Queen's best songs, Crazy Little Thing Called Love and Another One Bites the Dust.

If there'd be Innuendo, I'd voted for it. Of course, it's 1991 record, but i think it'd be better to have it here too (there aren't any real Queen records after it - only post Freddie Made in Heaven and the new The Cosmos Rocks); so there won't be any Queen '90 poll or will it?

Anyway, I voted for The Miracle. I consider The Game too, but after a little inner battle, The Miracle won.

The Game, easily.

Besides the two obvious hits Another One Bites The Dust and Crazy Little Thing Called Love, it has two of their best songs: Play The Game and Save Me, absolute classics, plus some other great songs such as Dragon Attack (man that song ROCKS), Sail Away Sweet Sister, Rock it is not great but is fun and Don't Try Suicide is decent, the other two are forgettable.

BTW, I don't understand why it has such a low rating, okay is not proggresive but it's a very good rock album, it's criminal to give this album 2,48 stars.

The Miracle comes second.

The Miracle, Was it all Worth it is a great track, several other really good ones too. The Game and Works are quite good as well.

The Works!!! Why it's so underrated? It's a great album!

So I voted for The Works. But actually it ties with The Miracle.

For some reason, I don't count The Game as a 80's album. I'm always associating it along with News Of The World  and Jazz. Yes, I know they had cut their hairs short, they started embracing punk but still...I love that album a lot, but it's just a bunch of songs with very little connection. And Coming Soon and Don't Try Suicide are dreadful.

I love Flash Gordon (their most progressive album) but it's simply not substantial enough to be compared with the other stellar albums.

Hot Space is certainly the worst, it contains some atrocious moments, but I don't think it's that horrible. In fact, I enjoy the entire B-side.

I can't recommend The Works enough, even if Man On The Prowl is mediocre rockabilly, and It's A Hard Life somewhat derivative. Keep Passing The Open Windows is a forgotten gem, and Machines (or Back to Humans) is easily one of the best rock (prog rock!) songs ever written.

I love A Kind Of Magic too, it's a return to their heavy metal roots, even if it's a bit formulaic. But I can't digest One Year Of Love and Pain Is So Close To Pleasure.

The Miracle is heavy, mellow, poppy, proggy, whatever you want. It's an example how a good rock album should sound like. Some songs are absolute gems. Even fillers as Rain Must Fall and My Baby Does Me are not that awful.

The Game for me, it was a close call, but the title song did it for me.  Queen at its best
