Very good one,

Apart from the music, what did you make of the punk philosophy of just getting up on stage and doing it, regardless of talent and skill?

CS: Well, that argument is a bit of a dead end argument really because however untalented you are, if you keep doing gigs and keep playing then you’re going to want get a better bass rig, get a better guitar and by default you’ll end up becoming a better player. You could be a complete novice at the beginning but after a while if you keep doing it you’re going to become more accomplished.

EDIT: Just move my post to other thread, I wasn't aware of it before. Or delete this one.

New album in 2010, aye?

If Jon Anderson isn't on it, I'm not buying it.

Squire seems like a nice enough guy in the interview, but if he's not using all of those basses at once, can I borrow some? LOL

I think Howe has outdone him in his guitar collection, and let's not even get started on Wakeman...

Maybe they'll get Mr Horn back on board. Cant see it myself. The guy who is singing with them at the moment (Benoit David, or David Benoit) is apparently very good. I wanted to see them this month, in London, but I'll be away that day..

Hi Ben, thanks for publishing the link.

Our interviews section here is for publishing the actual interviews. If you'd like to do so feel free, otherwise your thread sits best in this section which is for publicising ventures outside the site.

PS, the blogs section is for, er, blogs. Wink

A vital question unasked: Who is Yes? Is Jon officially out of the picture, is the new guy an official member? Didn't Chris want to talk about it or why wasn't this asked? If something, that is a question on everybody's lips.

But otherwise a very good one indeed Clap

Cool interview

I still always think of Yes as the choir boys of rock though.

I agree 100% with you. Although I'll probably end up caving and buying it

Well, for me the biggest issue is that the guys more or less 'silently' outed Anderson from the line-up without giving any proper announcement or notice to the fans. Poor Jon had that asthma attack, and rather than waiting for him to recover, the band goes on tour anyway with a less-then-stellar replacement. Was it temporary? Was it permanent? Nobody said anything. Then one day, I go to the band's website to see that Anderson's name no longer appears.

They just phased him out. And it was wrong.

Now, had the charming interviewer taken the time to address this very issue with Squire, my fears may have been put at ease. Instead, I'm left even more angry, because now there is the potential of a new album without Anderson on it! Angry

*whew!* Happy place, happy place . . .

I agree with you on that - They didn't even bother to ask Jon if he would be up for the new tour, which was a truly awful thing to do. I also can't stand Benoit's vocals at all, they're ear piercing and sound paper thin compared to Anderson's.

Thats incredibly rude, really. Just dropping him from the lineup is too ing far!

For me, Anderson is the real genius behind Yes, and I doubt they can make another (good) album like they did with DRAMA.
Also, I've decided not to see them if they come on tour in Australia.

Good interview. Although, I knew much of that info, it's always nice to read another interview with Chris. He's a great guy! And a pretty good bass player.Wink
