Hello - I'm new here.
I'm an ELP fan, been one since 1970.  I play drums (hobby) and I live in British Columbia - Canada.

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Hello mate,

aswell as being into ELP are into mountain biking (Kona?)

British columbia - a fine province if ever I visited one. Had a fine time in your country; was there for a year and really enjoyed it.

I'm also a drummer, trying to make it in a band, we're getting more prog but started out a more straightforward. If it doesn't come off then I'll still be drumming for the rest of my days. I think it is the most rewarding instrument to play - the physical satisfaction of a line combined with the sonic - unbeatable.

Anyways, this site is very cool.

Peace out...

Thanks for the notes (Danbo, Fandango and Stormy Teacup).

I've been away from the site for awhile - my appologies.

No - I don't do any mountain biking here in BC.  My username comes from a race I went in back in 1984 - Ironman Triathlon in Kona, Hawaii.  It was another life ago, but a great experience.  I don't have a drum "kit" anymore, but I still have my Valje bongos and congas (Quinto, Conga, Tumba and Super Tumba) that I bought in Vancouver in 1977 and that is my introduction to my little ELP moment:

I was in Vancouver to add two more congas to my collection of Valje drums and to go to see the ELP concert at the Pacific (PNE) Colliseum) July 29th.  As I parked out in front of the music store, "Drums Only!," I noticed a limo parked out front.  When I walked into the store - there in front of me - looking through a sheet music rack - was my favorite drummer, Carl Palmer! Greg Lake was running around the store with a Drums Only! tee shirt on and sporting a new look - very short hair.  There was a bodyguard there too.  When I walked toward Carl the bodyguard quickly started toward me, but Carl checked me out with a quick look and nodded to the guard not to approach.  I spoke briefly to Carl - who was very polite to me, but I remember he looked pretty intense - he had a lot on his mind then I'm sure.  The concert was great (even without the full orchestra).

Cheers,

Gary
