Whilst I don't dislike cats, I far prefer dogs.

I love my dog.  He is gentle, loving and obedient.  He is great with the kids and they treat him like he is a baby brother.

His feet smell like biscuits.

So, which do you prefer....dogs or cats?

I have never pondered the smell of dog feet ...

Anyway, no vote from me ... I like both equally.

I'm a pet lover in general. I prefer dogs but right now I can't have one where I live. Then, I have two cats.

Here's one of them, alone and with my girl...

I have 8 cats. Give or take a few, depending on the day of the week.

One of the things I love about cats is that they never, EVER take a pleasant-looking picture. They're too cool for that.

Cats and more cats. I have two whom I love dearly, Keri and Chloe. Hard to take a decent photo of them so will say Keri is a black short-haired domestic moggy and Chloe is a long-haired tabby domestic moggy. They are utterly spoilt and absolutely run the house!

Both are incredible pets but i prefer dogs, because with dogs you have much more challenge to your life and also they can enrich your life more than a cat. cats are more passive, they make a nice fellow but mostly they go their own way and live more beside you than with you. with dogs you can have much more action, can train them and for kids they make the better playmate... all in all they are more drawn to humans than cats i think.

I definately will get a Samojede when i have the time for that Smile

As a kid I liked dogs, but not cats. You couldn't play with cats like you do with dogs. If you ran towards a cat the cat would run from you. No fun at all.

Now that I'm older and not so wild as I used to be, I like cats a lot, actually prefer them, and cats can deal with me much better also.

I voted for cats, but I like dogs as well.

I love dogs, but utterly adore cats - can't imagine our life or house without them.

We've had many come and go (now hunting in the clouds ) over the years, our current two are:

Tosca (in sleep mode - her only other mode is following me around the house meowing loudly)

Baggins (in disapproving stare mode - he also uses sleep mode and jump-on-daddy-when-he's-asleep-at-3-in-the-morning mode)

Love'em

Let's face it - if and when the hordes of barbarians invade, we won't need weapons of mass destruction or nuclear armaments, just put a couple of kittens like the one on that video in front of the attackers & they'll melt.

If that fails, throw a used litter tray at them

just when they want to eat...
 - and when they want love, warmth and companionship

other way theyr'e on neighboor roofs and climbing anywhere...
 - yes, ridding the neighborhood of rats and mice

Dogs are really the thing here..!!! they really care bout you...
 - of course they do, without you they're finished, but a cat can still hunt and do quite well

guess you never had real friends... jajaja..!!!

Yes, they are.
And they need to be.
The most adorable dogs are just plain silly, and absolutely incapable of differentiating their tail from the rest of the nature.

My friend once said "why would anyone want to have a dog? It's like wanting to have a retarded person at home." I guess he won't understand.

I love both dogs and cats equally. And - just as a dog needs to be silly, cat needs to be lazy. Another friend of mine had a fat cat who would sleep on a sofa. When he wanted to sit there, he would just grab the cat and drop it on the floor - that cat wouldn't wake up even for a second.Heart

Actually dogs are fairly intelligent. They are highly trainable, and understand more than some people think they do. Dogs do have selective hearing though, tell it to go do something and it can't hear you, say dinner and they run from across the house.

Sounds like you've had some better luck with the breeding than I have.  I did get one baby from some platys that survived once.  I do believe they tend to eat their young.

Oh wait a second, you said "breading" are you suggesting we should fry up our tropical fish? Tongue

By the way, for any of you who keep tropical fish pets, when they do go belly up do you give them a "burial at sea" via the toilet or something else?

As a side note, tropical fish love you in their own special way particularly when you drop some flakes in. Big smile

My avatar implied correctly that I prefer cats although I like dogs.  They are more suited to my personality.  I had two, but the calico Tango went to the rainbow bridge in April at age 15.  Tui, the dark smoke cat, is 16 and doing well, a truly gentle soul, well, except where prey and other cats are concerned  Wink

What can a kid do between birth and age 12 or so...?  Share life with a Boxer dog, that's whatTongue

Playfighting, swimming, running, walking, throwing sticks, balls, watching the silly thing trying to bite falling snowflakes and so much else i can't remember. That dog was fun. And always pleased to see me when i came home from school, unfailingly loyal and as strong as an ox. Quite a beast for a five or six year old to "control" (it must have been the other way about till around then!) I didn't even have to train her - my dad did all the hard work.

Funnilly enough it hurt a lot when Stormy gave up the ghost all those years ago,,, as an adult, I've never owned a dog and that memory is probably why.

Cats? I don't mind other peoples, but no way are they for me.

This is right. Cats are truly intelligent creatures, they train US.
But damn it, they're so soft and cuddly.

I do like dogs though, but I don't know if I'd ever have one. If so I'd want a golden lab, OR if I had the space a Siberian Husky. Those are beautiful animals.

The house, wreck that it is, is her best shelter and I drop by every day to hang out with her.  I'd keep her over at the apartment, but the pet deposit is outrageous.  Anyway if all goes well, we'll have a house again in the area before too long.  The two tropical fish are doing fine, too.
