For those not pleased with this modern pop-metal wave, Within Temptation's Enter was probably the only standout in their (indifferent overall - if you ask me) discography. Quite interesting atmospheric metal album without the addition of bombastic Evanessence-like elements.

I would recommend this to friends of Gathering, early Lacuna Coil and Theatre of Tragedy.

and a beautiful cover indeed...

It is a great album, got interested in them after seeing them on "LIVE In EINDHOVEN" Dynamo 1998.

I loved the first two albums.

I can't believe they're doing all this generic music right now Cry

I agree with you all - WT's debut album is just GREAT. The second one was good as well.
Alas... after 'Mother Earth' became a hit single, their qualities went down the drain, as happens so often with bands who get picked up by the mainstream audience. I know it's selfish of me, but that's one of the reasons why I at times don't really like to see my fav bands making Big Time, as usually it's the 'beginning of the end' of good music. Wink

Jesus never managed to figure out the theremin either
