According to the Finnish rock mag Soundi, the Opeth front man Mikael Åkerfeldt is planning to record a singer/songwriter styled solo album. He says that discovering Nick Drake has really expanded his musical world view and made him understand the power of such acoustic simplicity. He says he could well make it an Opeth album but this time he wants to do everything by himself and record the songs at home. There's no schedule whatsoever for the release yet, so who knows, it might take years or a week.

Being a huge Opeth fan who's very fond of Nick Drake as well I'm saying Yay! Clap

Here's a link to the story for all in need of some Finnish lessons:

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

Is this by chance an exclusive news outside of Finland? I've never heard it before.

Acoustic Simplicity eh? I hope it's not another Damnation....as much as I loves me some Damnation.....I hope he embrases the more of the Synphonic Metal Acoustic Simplicity. But eithe way, I'm getting the album when it comes out.

Agreed!

I feel Watershed was more of the Mickael Ackerfeldt show rather than the Opeth show, so maybe after a solo record he'll have a lot of his stuff out of the way sa the next Opeth album can be more fairly distributed.

IMO Smile
