Over the past year, thanks mostly to Rush, I've been introduced to Progressive Rock from Classic Rock. I've been exploring Prog band by band, taking a strong liking to The Moody Blues and King Crimson, but also appreciating a few modern groups like Pravda, Porcupine Tree, and Spock's Beard. I've been listening quite a bit to the samples of Phideaux, and I've taken the strongest liking to the Love Theme (I love how lyrics are sparse but vocals are used so much). However, I'm totally knew to this band, and Cupacabra and Doomsday Afternoon are apparently regarded as masterpieces. Thus I'm torn between classic stuff by the band and this groovy-sounding new album. I shouldn't judge the whole album by one song, and I shouldn't go crazy over something else because others say so, so what does anyone have to say about starting my Phideaux collection with Number Seven? Good Idea? Bad? Should I go for another record? |

I'm not nuts about Number Seven, but Chupacabras and Doomsday Afternoon are very, very good.

Number Seven had received mixed reviews, but I like it. Then again, I've liked all of the Phideaux albums.

| Well Doomsday Afternoon is the second part of a duology,so I think if I'm not gonna decide on Seven I'll go with Chupacabras. |
