I want to write the greatest prog piece I'll ever hear and all I need is somebody to help me write the story, and album cover maker. I want the story to be sad and touching on some parts, and that the music will fit the story at that same time, and so on and so forth. Please share if you want in.

If it is, I think the cover should feature a tasteful image of a bull-like creature on a catherine wheel.

Bravo, Blowin' Free. Somehow, you have managed to get instant responses from people who seem to be interested in your project without having any ideas for it whatsoever. I'm impressed.
Whenever I posted a thread asking for help on my project, even with an idea already in place, nobody wanted to help me, it seemed. I had to resort to PMing people directly.
It's a gift, I suppose. Haha.

^ I wouldn't count two unanswered questions and an suggestion for a cover pic based on the band name as being a success just yet Micah
@BF - People are going to need more information to go on before they'll chip in with ideas of their own.

Hello!
First, I apologize for my long reply.
I am a published lyricist who has exactly the same goal. I started
seriously writing lyrics at age 18. My major influence has been Neil
Peart...
You can hear a sample of one of my published lyrics here:
http://www.thedailysearch.com/17%20Scorners%20of%20the%20Grave.m4a - http://www.thedailysearch.com/17%20Scorners%20of%20the%20Grave.m4a
I worked on that with an award winning musician from Sweden.
And here is a site where you can check out three sets of my lyrics (lyrics and artistic concept have all been registered with the Library of Congress, as i am very serious):
http://%20www.searchsites.ms11.net/mysite.html -
http://www.searchsites.ms11.net/mysite.html
Please forgive the lack of info on the site. You caught me in the middle of getting a new site up under my own domain name soon.
All my lyrics are aimed at progressive rock...closer to Rush's progressive/rock fusion...
Check out "Power Lines" and you will see my artistic idea for the lyric
pages. But that would also extend to the album cover...As you can see,
it's something that's never been done before...At least I've never seen
anyone do it...The art for "Power Lines" is actually integrated with
the lyrical theme so you can guess how much thought and time I put into
developing the concept. I don't have the best images up of the lyrics but try to envision the final product as a clean and glossy lyric book.
Of particular interest to you might be a lyric I wrote entitled "Soldier X". It could be mistaken for a metal, thrash or death metal lyric but it was actually written in the same spirit as Rush's "Red Sector A". I call attention to it because, although there is no music to it yet, I know exactly how the music for "Soldier X" should sound and know it would be an incredible and moving song should I find the musicians who can pull off the music for it. It was inspired in part by the events in Bosnia in the '90's.
I also have solid and well formed artistic ideas for my other lyric set "Compositions", as you will see.
Should you regard any of my work as promising, I am prepared to meet with you and discuss your objective and take it from there if things click.
In the meantime, I hope to have a decent website up within a week. :fingers crossed:
I assume you are already a serious musician, correct?
Regards, Mike

I have a song written that you can use, it's about the exodus of a planet from the president's point of view and how much he misses it, and it would be about 15 minutes long. I fyou were looking for a longer piece than that I was planning on extending the exodus piece to 3 segments adding in a poem from a typical worker leaving the planet and how he hopes for a new beginning and from the point of view of a man who gets left behind and who scours the planet for other left behinds (eventually meeting a woman). If you want the lyrics go ahead and reply to it here or PM me. I also have a page on here with my lyrics, but there's only two on there right now "The Path" and "Mirrors" but those are more political/moralistic than the exodus one, but you'll be able to see my style. The page is called "My lyrics/songs" and it's in the music and musicians exchange, it should be on page 1.

I don't know, it was just one I never planned on playing with my band, not that it's worse or anything it was just more of a creative song that derived from my boredom, I figureed I could give it to someone else if they needed it. My band said they didn't wanna do too many extended pieces so it got scrapped completely for that reason (although our one extended piece Faustus 2031 is looking good to be recorded still).

So what will the album be about?

I just wanted to clarify that I am in no way giving my lyrics away to use without proper credit. Neither are they to be split up. Nor do I collaborate via the internet. If anyone wants to collaborate or use my lyrics it will have to be on an album by album basis and done through face to face meetings.
Just wanted to clear up any confusion.

Blowin free, you would be wise to use your own lyrics and art so as not to depend on others for what you may be lacking in the creativity department. But if "juxtaposition and reprobate" are the best you can do you may have to settle for a hot checkers match with one of your many fans here.
