Pipe (church) organ for me. It's just so emotional and powerful, witness Awaken for starters.
I like the harp too, it's a beautiful instrument although it's not that frequent in prog.

I'm a bass player and I looove playin' it, but when it comes to listening to music, the instrument that gives me more emotions is the piano.
Flute and bass are tied in second place.

Mellotron.. It shook me as a child before I even knew what it was! I sometimes here songs my father listened to that I also liked and some of them have the classic warm mellotron sound. I was distined to be in love with this strange keyinstrument! I myself ply guitar, drums and keys and ofcourse I like these instruments too, especially the guitar. Futhermore I've been searching for an old '70 senthisizor, which I think is pretty nice.

I'm tempted to say that I just can't get enough of those cowbells, but it's really not true.
As a guitar player, I love the sound of the acoustic, but I decided to vote for something else: the oud. I'm surprised to see it listed here, as I'm not familiar with any progger in particular playing it, but I love the mellow sound of it. For those who don't know, it's the precurser to the lute. Didgeridoo is my runner up here.

Partly because of the fact that I play it but also partly because I think it's an incredibly expressive instrument and incredibly important to music, I chose electric bass. I would have chosen upright in an instant though, if it were on the poll.

Picked piano slightly over electric and accoustic guitars, melotron and violin.
Violin is the most overlooked though. There's nothing like it when it comes to generate emotions. And it's quite the hardest to play too, perhaps with piano.

I tend to be a huge fan of jazzier prog, so any reeds or wind will do it for me. If I had to pin it down, I'd say the Tenor Sax, because I like the tone of it at all ranges. In fact, the raucous sax solos on Islands are some of my biggest reasons for liking that album...See also, VDGG and Hawkwind's studio albums.
After that, some nice fingerpicked 12-string, then any number of synths.

I recently fell in love with the sound of the vibraphone, what an incredible instrument, and a surprisingly powerful lead.
Since the vibraphone isn't here, I'll be the first to vote for the violin. I absolutely love the sensitive and haunting sound of the violin... it can be very soft and soothing, but also very dark and manacing. It was a pretty hard decision though, as there are so many incredible instruments.

Bass guitar of course.
I don't see why the bits of a drum kit are listed separately - who would describe themselves as a hi-hat player?
A question came up on Eggheads last night - how many strings does a bass guitar normally have, 2, 4 or 6? The Egghead's response was "if it had 4 strings it would be a ukelele so it must be 6". Doh!
