I haven't seen a bit of press on the 'chives about this:

http://stereogum.com/archives/mp3/radiohead-officially-release-these-are-my-twisted-words_084581.html

or this:

http://stereogum.com/archives/radiohead-wall-of-ice-ep-out-monday-_084481.html

or this:

http://stereogum.com/archives/mp3/new-radiohead-these-are-my-twisted-words_084191.html

Radiohead fans, where are you be? I mean, a new Muse album came out the other day and I heard nothing about it, but Muse is Muse. They're cool and all, but they ain't Radiohead.

I like the name Wall of Ice, if that is a real EP, but I do not like the idea that it is a reference to xkcd because that is absurd. I liked the sound of the song but then it didn't change at all so I got bored.

Wall of Ice is not a real EP (so far as we know).

Song is awesome though. Krautiohead =

There seems to be some doubt about how genuine this "news" is. I notice too that the links provided appear to lead to a site which promotes illegal sharing. Could you clarify whether there has been any offical announcement by Radiohead about this "news",

Yes, this song has been offered for free download on the Radiohead site and confirmed by them as a release on Aug. 17.

Thanks for that.Thumbs Up

What about the other parts of the news though. That seems less clear, indeed there is a suggestion that some of the material is not by Radiohead at all.

isn't it, "These Are My Twisted Words"? If not then my local radio station totally boned that up

Regardless, I have to say that I don't like the track at all. I enjoyed In Rainbows a lot, but this stuff just seems totally lackluster. The song ended and I was like... "That's it? I thought that was just the intro!"

It is "These Are My Twisted Words."

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking about. Radiohead released one song. Anything else is, presumably, not by Radiohead.

There were rumors of an EP including the song, but these rumors did not play out.

Radiohead aren't planning any new albums anytime soon.

Indeed; they seem to be shirking albums in favor of less stressed material.

As for that site, I assumed it was legit. The downloads they provide are listed as free and legal, and when that's not appropriate, a video (from Youtube or some such) is hosted. Some bands seem to actually work WITH it to promote their material.

Anyway, I agree with the earlier sentiment that the new song is nice, but mayhaps a lil' long in the tooth and short in the ideas department. But still nice.

The original post above includes references and a link to a "Wall of Ice" EP. The website it links into includes links to a known illegal file sharing site. Even the website it links to appears to question the Authenticity of the EP.

The site isn't only for illegal file sharing.  While, granted, it is mostly used for illegal purposes there is no reason its format cannot be used legally.  And I believe that's what Radiohead is trying to do, work with new distribution methods.  Not sure about the legitimacy of this EP or not, I'd say its more of a rumour than fraud though.

The Wall of Ice EP is non-existent.

The file-sharing site can be used to share files legally. Radiohead used the site to leak their own song onto the internet a few days before they actually owned up to it on their website. The Radiohead website itself links to the torrent site as a legitimate means of acquiring the song.

While the site can be used illegally, the purposes to which it is being put are, in this scenario, completely legal.

I guess if linking to a site that links to a site that can be and is used for illegal purposes is too controversial, just edit the first post to link to Radiohead's website, which is the most legitimate source of news on the matter, of course.
