Yeah, I'm a newbie. I'm a 26 year old male from columbus ohio currently
living in minneapolis while attending music production school. Here's some of my favorite groups I consider prog. Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica Kate Bush - The Dreaming Magma - anything except the first two, horn driven lp's Legendary Pink Dots - Anything Guapo, Univers Zero, Gentle Giant, Art Bears, Thinking Plague, any other Zeul\RIO artist Grobshnitt, The Thought Industry, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Sonic Youth (Sister and Daydream Nation are musts for prog\RIO fans) well, the list is incomplete, but you get the idea. Anything strange and unusual. Jandek, Residents, Chrome, anything off the wall is up my alley. Favorite prog track? Tough. Either CLOSE TO THE EDGE by yes or JACOB'S LADDER by Rush. INDUCTIVE RESSONANCE by Robert Fripp\League of Gentlemen is a worthy contender. What a solo!!!!!!!!!!! Sorry for the long boring intro. Til later, Eric ------------- Blarg! My cheese has bones! |

The Cardiacs? They are Punk Prog aren't they? Seen them live twice at the Whitchurch festival.. I guess in the same room as trouserpress! Anyway ipd42, a very warm welcome, and I'm confident you'll have many happy hours in here exploring the site! ------------- Music has always been a matter of energy to me. what music production school are you attending?! i'm an upcoming junior
who's looking for music production college programs and opportunities.
What other options did you look at before going to minneapolis?!?! I NEED TO KNOW!!! PS: i'm not totally insane. just a little. I'm currently in my third quarter at the Institute of Production and
Recording. I investigated a school in ohio (where I'm from) a school in arizona (their standards were a bit too high) but IPR is awesome. Session drummer Kenny Aronoff (he played on nearly every John Mellancamp album and also worked with meatloaf and Tommy Iommi!) came in to record drums for an album and all of us students were allowed to come and watch, which was a great experience. Got to talk to him afterwards, he had some pretty interesting stories to tell....But I digress... Check out the website.. WWW.Iprschool.com Many teachers have worked with well-known musicians (One of the heads of the school, Tom Tucker, used to produce\work for prince.) My midi teacher had done some beats for a michael Jackson album...) ------------- Blarg! My cheese has bones! |
