No Quasar the band (good band), no Crossings the album, just those two tracks off those two albums. No Lenny Klinger's Galaxy or Galaxy Fuzz band etc.  You get the point, I'm sure there plenty of others to call me out on, but the poll is about the music in those vids. I take a catholic view on discussion, however, it can be universal and take on and travel to other dimensions.  Space, the final frontier, these are the voyages.... But let's try to keep it jazzy and or funky -- like a chicken, but we can cross many roads and end up in different spaces.  I'm hear to learn and have my mind opened up to infinite space....

Okay, I know I've been rather overdoing it with polls of late, and they're getting a bit too predictable (Davis, Hancock, and related).... Yeah, it's kind of redundant considering my last few polls.  But hey, at least its not more Magma, Art Zoyd, Henry Cow, or Robert Wyatt polls. Wink Still love those, though. In fact, I'm playing Art Zoyd now (love that band, but who doesn't? ;)). Anyway....

This poll is intended to expose more people to Bennie Maupin and Dr. Eddie Henderson, and for me to discover more jazz-funk through recommendations (particularly of the Mwandishi Trilogy and cosmic variety).  Yeah, space is the place! (gratuitous Sun Ra reference, could include some cool Sun Ra cosmic stuff). And for me to discover more Hancock related music...

Some will notice that I've already mentioned both artists in other polls and already provided youtube videos of these tracks.  I think they could be accessible to those who don't usually listen to this kind of music. Some of you will regret that I don't have the excellent Crossings version of the Maupin-composed Quasar, but then some of you will remember that I did a poll comparing Quasar and Water Torture off Crossings and Slow Traffic to the Right.

I'm only doing two tracks so that it's easier for people to listen to all of the choices.  I hope people enjoy them.

Still with me? If so, I appreciate your patience and tenacity!

By the way, Eddie Henderson plays flugelhorn and trumpet on Slow Traffic to the Right, and Bennie Maupin plays sax and bass clarinet on Sunburst.  And, of course both worked with Hancock (Crossings etc.).  I would have liked to include another from the stable, Julian Priester (mentioned in another poll) but haven't found appropriate youtube vids. And I now want to do a topic on Alphonso Johnson (Henderson did a good version of "Involuntary Bliss").  I'll keep this polll simple, but hopefully the discussion will be illuminating.  Sorry if these are not your preferred choices by either, but I had my reasons for choosing them (youtube vids, titles, and perceived accessibility).  Check out Henderson's "Sunburst" on youtube, I think that's a really great track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgUCgYzFPXg - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgUCgYzFPXg

Again, please mention your related favourites (by these artists or others).  I want to discover more music... And if you can find music samples to share, even better, but any discussion is good discussion for me.
