Acquiring The Giant's Taste (Tribute to Gentle Giant).
Well, Once again I managed to finish another difficult collage.( 3 days straights with hardly any sleep) Difficult because Gentle Giants is one for those bands that didn't have many albums and the band pictures are hard to find. Special high Resolution images, but I did what I could with what I found. It was with a great pleasure to create this collage to the one bands that took me quiet sometime to get into back in the 80's. However, now they are one the most important band in my whole in-tired collection and in the History of Prog. GG is an unique band that created wonderful odd music. Quiet Original to my ears and one of the lesser rock prog band from the 70's. GG was a band to remember and it deserves more exposure..
Enjoy GG fans!! your Buddy! Darksideof.

GG hadn't much albums? They made eleven of them!
But that doesn't really matter, it's a great collage!
Maybe you should send it to the official GG site?

I have had every collage of yours as a wallpaper, and I switch every time there's a new one. But there is too much "real-life", not much animation, like you did with Genesis.

Thanks...true but on the genesis, Dream Theater I did the same thing.. the sky the water are my own images. . GG doesn't have that many animation albums' covers. I try to create something unique.
Also the hand image is my hand. I guess I am creating very personal collages.

Gentle Giant is definitely one of my favorites if not my favorite band from that era at the moment.
Awesome picture- even though I'm not one to put posters on the wall. :D

Hey ! Thanks... Yes I do. Let me tell you about my prints not just to persuade you to buy any, but it is good sh*t!. I do them at this printshop that has a $25,000.00 Dollars machine. They do some quiet amazing job. If you like the digital image you will love the prints even more. Why? The colors look cso vivid and bright and of mention the details of all images. You can visit my blog for details of how to purchase it. Also you can view all my collages so far..

Very nice. I thought it was very interesting the first time I looked at it. I was expecting a lot of bright stuff, as GG always sounds very colorful to me, but you used a darker color scheme. Not that it's a bad thing at all, I applaud your creativity.

I hear ya! you know something I don't even know myself how the collages are going to look when I done.
the background was lighter. the trees on the back. but them when I placed the faces at first they were in black and white but then I added some pastes colors on top. well you know how mad (but in a good way) I can be with my collages.

Like I said in your previous collage(Genesis'), you're getting better and better with each new one, and this is a very notable proof. Definitely my favorite as far the colours, and what-so-on which I don't know go.
BTW, is that your hand?

Sorry to slow down your rolling thunder darksideof... but I thought I would point out some things (just so you can add to its beauty!)
C&C: Around the borders of the band member's face's (along the top), you can see distinct lines of where the original photo ended, and it doesn't fade very well. I personally think it would look nicer if it blended all together (but maybe that's how you wanted it?)

no that is fine I like to get positive criticism of my work, but I don't see anything. Believe me I don't stop until I am satisfy and I am very careful blending pictures. if there arelines they were all intentionally done. Thanks...

Another fantastic collage capturing the essence of progenitors of Canterbury, Gentle Giant. I like the use of the water how the Octopus lurks beneath and the severed hand rises as a phoenix threatening to snatch the band from the stage. The Giant with band in hand is like a monument and looks as iconic as the band's imagery on their albums. The concert photos are great but I particularly like the lighting like lasers cascading down from the heavens.
There is not as much colour this time but the band were never into colourful covers when you consider them. I would have liked to have seen the inclusion of the 'Acquiring the Taste' tongue and 'The Missing Pience' jigsaw piece somewhere as they are great albums. However, the inclusion of 'Power and the Glory''s king is subtle and works well.
Impossible to fault when you consider how much trouble you have gone through to make this an amazing original tribute to the band.
edit: Wow I just looked again and the missing jigsaw piece was there in the Giants head! - I missed that - devilishly clever!

Thanks.... you have no idea the hours that i spent brain storming and collection ideas of where and how I am going to use the albums covers and images. There had been times that i spent hours cleaning, editing and cutting out pictures and at the end I don't even use it or like it. With The acquiring Tonge image I had a hard time finding the right place for it. but it there. It isn't really visible, but it there. It is by right next by the power and glory image and in the water righ by the center, it isn't really visible but I least I used it. Also named the collage Acquiring the Giant's taste as tribute to the great album, which was my very first GG album I got in the early 90's and it is still one of my favorite. I love the first 3 song, Prog at its best.
Ah!! Also let me tell you buddy about my collages I like to play with people mind. I like to hide images or made them hard to find. In some collages i used over 50 images. Maybe one simple tittle thing from one particular image. So next time take a real close LOOK! and most people won't even noticed sometimes after while, Thanks… you are great and I always appreciate you great comments as well.
