It's a pretty simple task. This is supposed to be a satire of progressive rock and its fans, simply add as many points as you wish. But please, keep it clean. (Kudos for the most inventive responses) I'll start off 1. All the Girls 2. Flute Solos 3. It just keeps on going... and going 4. Painfully Complex Time Signatures 5. Pretension 6. You have a reason not to like Phil Collins 7. Because 80 minute albums aren't going to listen to themselves 8. You know J.R.R. Tolkien would approve 9. All the Dream Theater Polls 10. Pink Floyd made you appreciate dogs on vocals 11. Because how many Gentle Giant fanboys do you see? 12. Steven Wilson told you so 13. Nostalgic 70's clothing 14. Incomprehensible lyrical themes 15. Drugs, and plenty of them 16. Sweet band names 17. Someone has to listen to Jazz Fusion 18. Frank Zappa's salient advice 19. Bass is the new lead guitar 20. Paying extortionately high prices for rare LP's |

2. Its retro 3. Babes dig guys who listen to music which is often based on fantasy 4. It was cool 30 years ago 5. You can sound like a total badass by telling people you listen to prog... Example "Chyeah, I listen to prog  "
6. Because you can act like you're better than everyone else 7. You can mean reason 6 8. The Jazz-fusion solos 9. A somewhat inventive way of wasting 20 minutes is to listen to an epic 10. Babes dig obscure nerds with very few friends who like Dream Theater And I'm out of ideas

1. Due to the sometimes quite complex time signatures it is much better to dance to than those bloody 4/4 songs you always hear on the radio. Anyone who has ever been to a concert of Embryo and saw the whole audience dance to these REALLY complicated time signatures will know what I am speaking of. Just so you have something for comparison: 13/8 would be considered to be a very simple time signature by Embryo; they are trained in the tala tarangini, the Indian school of percussion, and those rhythms are EXTREMELY complicated and take years to study. Those rhythms are a lot more than just the basic time signature which they are in; there are certain highly complex rules of how to variate them, which is what makes them so complicated.
