http://www.mikeportnoy.com/about/discography/?menu=about <<<< to see his discography.

"others" include : Yellow Matter Custard, "Various Artists" releases and John Arch.

Personally, I'd say Transatlantic. It's where he shines the most, after DT. Too bad Neal Morse went "too religious" ; I don't think we'll ever see a TA reunion.

Neal Morse does not really count, because in fact its a band. You should put MIke Portnoy's none-Dt work or something.

I voted for Liquid Tension Experiment because well, JP, JR, TL and MP are perhaps at the height of their musical careers right there. (Maybe not for Tony Levin, but still..)

I love Transatlantic.

LTE comes in second.

Liquid Tension Experiment, because they made two of my favourite instrumental albums ever.

Went for LTE, but Transatlantic is also outstanding!! also his performance in other projects are great, mainly in tribute albums like "Encores, Legends and Paradox" (ELP Tribute) or "Working Man" (Rush Tribute).

LTE has some great stuff, first album has some sublime jamming. But I love the epic sweep of Transatlantic. Great Modern Progressive Rock!

... although... OSI is not a Portnoy side project, but a Matheos/Moore side project in which Portnoy collaborated as a drummer. My vote goes for LTE, but let me state that the OSI stuff deserves a larger voting. Transatlantic is quite good, but at times I just find it a bit too exhausting too listen to.

Regards.

Transatlantic took me much longer to get into and I still don't think SMPTe is all that great. Liquid Tension Experiment totally blew me away. I got the mp3s from my nephew after he told me it sounded like DoE, I listened to them while walking the dog. Left home for work early that day so I could by the cds. Fantastic stuff. The first heavy metal I ever heard that actually sounds cheerful!!

Thanks !! Your topics always so good and informative. I like you talk.

Definitely Transatlantic. Liquid Tension Experiment just seems like Dream Theater without Labrie.

It's only knock and knowall, but I like it...
