From what I could gather from various local Los Angeles news providers I googled, he had a cardiac arrest, arrived at the hospital in a deep coma and his life was beyond saving.

I've never been sure how to feel about MJ because it's not clear from where I stand whether he was just a weird, lonely guy who got screwed by the jackass parents of the boys he befriended and his insane childhood, or if he was an actual pedophile. Looks like it's the day of the passing of the not very old celebs today - Farah Fawcett first, then Michael - and latest on the rumour mill is that Jeff Goldblum died after an on set accident in New Zealand.

I'm much more interested in this Jeff Goldblum rumour, to be honest. It's still sad though, that he's died. I'm not a fan of his music or him but as HP said, it's sad that he seemed to lead a sad and lonely life. -------------

I'm with you Raff, and I feel that my key strokes hold little value, but if the forum is as open as the people who get away with spewing vomit like this then I'm entitled to my opinion. Dead or not, child molestor or not, we're talking about a breathing, living, conscious entity who had feelings and a life, people who loved and trusted him, individual thoughts and processes. It's sad when any person dies, but not particularly affected for Michael Jackson (I always try to be honest). What bothers me is that some stations like CNN in Spanish are showing a portrait of almost a hero, something far from reality.
Hope that he finds peace wherever he is now.

Slight correction: he settled out of court in 1993 (twice!). And why isn't this OJ? He was found innocent in the same court system by a similar group of "twelve really stupid people who are easily swayed by rich, fat-cat, slimy lawyers, who'll do anything but tell the truth" (its from Wrongfully Accused). OJ was great in the Naked Gun series by the way so I fully expect when he dies he'll get a thread mourning his loss. And King By-Tor: I feel fine today knowing that if I died tomorrow that you'd repect my passing not that I'd care, I'd be dead after all and either in a far better place, far worse place, or just gone.

I'm not a fan, nor do I agree with how he conducted his life; however, there has been plenty of time to throw negatives about the man around, but on a thread in honor of a man on the day of his death? Heard about this news earlier.... Complete surprise. I mean the guy was only 50, not overweight, not into drugs, (that we know of at least). Regardless off his...oddities and various personal questions I feel for the guy. He had no childhood, I mean it's no surprise he was so weird. Despite being one of the best selling artists of all time, he had almost no money left. Just sad. Very sad... |

As for the paedophile discussion: You must be out of your minds! Nothing was ever proven, in spite of all cash-motivated efforts to the contrary. I remember when Thriller was at it's zenith, The Jacksons had just released Victory and the tour kicked off at Arrowhead Stadium here in Kansas City. This city was absolutely electric and all the news media had converged. Really was something that night. E -------------

That explain why the internet was so slow at 0400, British time....... I was never a fan of Michael Jackson. But he made this world a lot more interesting by being what he was. He made hundreds of millions very happy. He was a bit of a nutter and perhaps a genious. Maybe he was regarded a nutter because he was a genious. There is a straight line running from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to Michael Jackson. The straight line is also called "lack of social skills". Remember, his childhood was not normal. He did not get an upbringing which promoted social skills, to put it mildly. In these circumstances, building Neverland and sleeping in the same bed as teenage boys seems normal. I do not think Michael Jackson became older than 16 years in his own mind. "I have money and I can do whatever I want". That's the ethic. That's lack of social skills. Maybe he was a pedofile. But I just think he did not have a clue. He was a small child in a cruel world. But that's is still no excuse for what he did. I feel sorry for all his fans and those who are crying their eyes out today. Rest In Peace, Michael. |

The Howard Hughes of Pop is gone. Like so many mega-stars , he never came across as a happy camper, rather a tragic figure locked in a gilded cage. We simple citizens take for granted many freedoms, such as going to the street corner store to buy a paper, a walk in the park with poochie or having a nice dinner in a bistro. MJ could never enjoy such simple joys. It proves only that life is a never a free ride.

Please Thomas, that's not the point, his death is sad for those who feel it (honestly I don't, never liked his music and much less him as a person), but lack of privacy is the price you pay for fame and fortune,
There's other people who can't buy a paper in the corner or have a dog to ride and much less to have a dinner wherever because they can't afford it or live in a box bellow a bridge....But when they die, nobody gives a damn.
He could afford his own amusement park in his huge house, if he lost his money is not anybody's except his fault. He had all the chances and talent enough to make the music all the world liked, 99.99999999999% of the people don't have this oportunity.
He's dead...I'm sorry as I am sorry for average John who dies after 40 years of working from 9 to 5 for 6 days a week and 3 mortgages to pay but much les than the kid who dies in Puno because he's cold and nobody cares because he never made a video. I'm a mother, and believe me, I feel very strongly about paedophilia. The whole Michael Jackson paedophilia affair, however, always looked like a sham and extortion scheme to me and nothing else. Oh man, I didn't know he was getting ready for a comeback tour, and supposedly someone helped him pay off all his debt... And my gut feeling, I really don't think he did what he was accused of. Granted, his relationship with those kids was extremely inappropriate. Like I said, I just feel bad for the guy. R.I.P. |

From personal tastes, I could never stand his music. However, whatever we might think, he clearly gave millions of people a great deal of pleasure, and the media circus that accompanied a clearly very disturbed person was distasteful in the extreme. As an aside, as soon as I got to work this morning, the text sick jokes were already doing the rounds. None of them in particularly good taste. Ah well...RIP. hmmm... heard some songs from Thriller today on the radio ... I had really forgotten how good they were. Cracked some dude up sitting in traffic next to me... I was BELTING out 'Wanna be starting something' with everything I had... guess he was watching me hahah. Anyway... after hearing Beat It follow that... I had to hear the album again. I was one of the 10% of ALL americans that owned that album. Long since gone though. Every CD store in the DC area is completely sold out of Michael Jackson. even the limited edition of 'Michael Jackson sings Focus'. really hit home that regardless of everything about him.... he was a true talent and made such great music. ------------- The Pedro and Micky Experience - When one no longer requires psychotropics to trip |

I was very much into his music in the 1980's, in the age of Thriller especially.
When a radio station played some old '80's classics today I was impressed once again. He was a great artist, a talented media phenomenon and a skilled composer, and I feel very sad, the road he has taken through the years, both musically and as how he got himself into the press through the years, with or without his own doing.
I must say I feel very sad when I think about his death now. He gave the world some great music, but his legs seemed to be to weak to handle the fame, the fortune and all the opportunities that crossed his way. He seemed to estrange himself from the world more and more.
Well, a childhood hero has gone, and I'm more shocked by it than I thought, given the fact that from Bad on my interest in his music was declining by every album, and I couldn't feel an emotional attachment to the way he presented himself in the media.
But today I feel very sad after all

I never believed the pedaphile accusations personally,i felt strongly that people just wanted his money. He was such a boy at heart but he should have known that red flags pop up when adults spend a lot of time playing with children who are not their own, and especially sleeping in the same bad as them. It may have been innocent but come on your just asking for a law suit.Naive to a fault.
I was there in the eighties as a huge music fan,he was all over the place of course,but when you're into IRON MAIDEN,LED ZEPPELIN,BLACK SABBATH etc, you can appreciate that i just couldn't stand his music.I really had no appreciation for it. Guilty or not (and I'm afraid he probably was because of the fact that over 90% of accused are, proven data from people who study abusive relationships) the man was a very troubled human being with a distorted sense of reality. Thriller was the first album I owned and I lip-synced and tried to dance to it just as millions of others did. I hope he finds peace now, and that what had been so twisted can be healed.
But we should name mental sickness for what it is. And yes I am the father of two small children. And yes I deal with real abuse victims in my job. I do not wish vengeance or hate on perpetrators, just hope beyond reason for healing. Sometimes it happens. ------------- You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all. |

This deserves a whole lot of . Somebody who had what so many people are ready to do mayhem for - oodles of money - and was unable to enjoy life is to be pitied, in my very humble opinion. And this has nothing to do with being a fan ,a progger, a bigot, or whatever. |
