How about a Canterbury Tales Scene genre? Featuring artists Jeff Chowser, The Yeomen, and The Pricks of Conscience.

I don't want to be a grumpy partybreaker, but I would prefer much more an article on Wikipedia.

There are 435 Wikipedia links to some ProgArchives page as a reference point, but no article about the site itself.

I think it would be the best to do it by some collab (or a group of colabs) who were on the site from the very beginnings. However, I would like to contribute!

Progarchives had a wikipedia entry.  See here http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=26446&OB=ASC - http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=26446&OB=ASC

But it was deleted http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ProgArchives - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ProgArchives

If it's written well, and according to wikipedia's guidelines, then I imagine that it would not be deleted (incidentally, there are problems with the rateyourmusic page regarding lack of references etc. and could be subject to deletion as it stands).

The "hype" really doesn't matter.

Wikipedia should be neutral, and a set of articles about relevant things in any activity/observation of/by human kind.

There's no reason why should I write an article about my old grandmother, but let's say she invented a new technique in design of upholstery recognized by the public, in that case there's no reason why an article shouldn't be there.

ProgArchives are doing one of the most important roles in "encyclopedizing" all things related to progressive rock on a significant platform of human knowledge and communication, known as Internet community - so hell yeah, we deserve an article, and very good one at that!

The 2006 PA article was poor, and didn't seem neutral, as I recall.  It didn't tell one that much about PA.  They do have certain standards even though a lot of very poor articles are on there (though many don't get reported, and the complainers may have their biases as well as the supporters).

Ah thanks Dean.  I was just about to comment that I was having the strangest sense of deja vu.  I thought for sure I had commented in a thread about uncyclopedia before.  The last time I was there though, the number of bands added since you started reading is gone.  Cry  That was the funniest part.  LOL

Just in case members have trouble with the link, perhaps it should be noted that that topic is in the collab zone.

No.  The inverse Satan is impossible.  Unless perhaps you have actually been given special joint bending powers by the Dark Lord himself.

Although, hmmmm...on the other hand if I were to sell my soul to the dark one, I don't think special joint bending powers would be at the top of my list for his contractual obligations.  Wink

Is it true that PA has outsourced the "number of bands listed at PA" counter t5o Uncyclopdia ?
I also hear rumours that they have discovered a new prog sub genre - Progressively Worse !

I can actually do this but I see no reason to, as I'm not into that sort of thing. (If you can do this, don't. For some reason it will make your wrist hurt like hell.)
