You would have been sleeping under a rock for ages not to know these guys.

Perhaps a better question would have been: "Which of these are you not familiar with?" along with a "Recognize them all" choice as these are fairly popular and well-known names.

I've heard of all these except for this Phil Collins you mention. Who's he?
Aaaaaahh. Now I remember. I know who you mean, he's the guitarist with Def Leppard isn't he?

Maybe Joan Collins' husband (many of...)

well, I didn't think many people would recognize them all. And "Which of these are you not familiar with?" is not a good question because the newbies usually aren't that eager to vote

I think I may have voted for Åkerfeldt twice

I confined my votes to those that were in my collection somewhere. If you're on this site long enough I think you will have heard of all of them.

not necessarily. Not every prog fan listens to metal, so certain people are out.

I know them all. I only had to check if my guess to which band Daniel Gildenlöw belongs was right. But since multiple voting is not allowed here, I voted for David Gilmour: his music is the one I'm most familar with. And I couldn't stand it that one of the others had one more vote, even if his name is Robert Fripp...

1. The Flower Kings right?
2. Multiple votes are allowed in the poll.

I'd be utterly astonished if there had been people on this site for more than a week, month at the outside, that hadnt at least heard of every name on that list.

1. Wrong. Pain of Salvation.
2. Thanks for correcting me, Dean. I did not understand how multiple voting worked until now. Being a native computer nerd, I expected check boxes instead of radio buttons, but this was caused by my own tunnel vision. This means that I must allow Robert Fripp having one more vote than David Gilmour once again...

In the vein of the Miller Lite commercials, "Let's have both,"
Gildenlow is in Pain of Salvation and was a member of The Flower Kings for both Unfold the Future and Adam and Eve.

I have heard of them all, but I haven't listened to them all, although I have a good idea what the music they play sounds like. Speaking of David Gilmour, I heard "On An Island" on the radio yesterday at the store, I was amazed that it stills gets airtime since it wasn't that big of a hit.

Needs more Zappa. But in this case, Åkerfeldt without a doubt.

you should put referance note ' for newbies only ' .. even if someone doesn't know some of your list or is not into metal perhaps , there are many topics on each of them or at least somehow related..

hat's the point of this poll?
Posted By: paganinio
Date Posted: May 10 2009 at 01:35
the point is to see which people are the most famous.
And http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=57583 - (finally) prove that Dream Theater are not the most popular on this site. They may be a strong band, but when it comes to individual members in the band, they lose to (wait a minute, they still win.....).

Because they obviously have more fans around here. This is the only way I can market my polls! (you can check out some of my early polls about obscure bands, who would want to vote in those?)
