What do you mean by 'former'? For example, Jay is still with GPS and ASIAfjp. Presumably this is a side project

My wife just pissed me off.
SO I'll vent here - apart from Tony Kaye, what grand music have the others written ...
Toto was Steve Lukather, David Paich, and the Porcaro bros.
Asia's supergroup status was due to Wetton, Palmer, Howe, and Downes.
And Tony Kaye was in Yes before the big time.
So the magic was someone else's .

Toto is 0% Prog, Asia was maybe 10% Prog and Yes have been everything from 100% Prog to about 30% Prog, so... There's absolutely nothing to indicate whether this'll be actual Prog or AOR like Asia and Toto.

Hi Tiziana,

I think that it's a reasonable question to ask.

I don't remember any of these guys playing for the aforementioned supergroups in their optimum and most memorable supergroup lineups.

Toto don't play prog and Tony Kaye was better known for his part in Badger which was a really good but more heavy rock band.

I think I would draw my expectations of what this group might be more from the Circa material than from what these guys were doing back in the '70's or '80's.

A bit harsh on Mr Kaye. He did play on The Yes Album after all.

No slight on Kaye's contribution to Yes. Just that their entry into the major leagues was Fragile. But they do owe him a big debt in building the sound.
Bobby Kimball on the other hand was the lead singer in Toto, who didn't even sing all the songs ...

I'm interested but also very suspicious.
Forgive me if I'm reminded of GTR and a number of other artificial constructs of a dubious nature.
I'll certainly give it a listen though.

LOL!

Though actually it's Circa Mark II (Alan White having bailed) and Bobby Kimball. Pop prog, anyone?

GTR. Excuse me I just threw up in my mouth a little. So much potential there.

Circa's latest album (haven't heard their first one yet) was pretty good.  Enjoyed it quite a bit.  And I like Bobby's voice, so it could be an interesting combo actually.  Although, I also liked Billy's voice for Circa.  Still, think it will be a lot of fun.

On the other hand, Eric.  Gotta admit, the person who started this thread sort of promoted it like it was the best thing since the Egyptians invented beer.  LOL

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

I haven't bought the new one, but have the first one. Not a HUGE fan, but it's OK.

I've seen this before, however. A manager announces something and it's open season. I remember the guy for ProgRock records announcing Nick D'Virgillio re-recording The Lamb and people started dumping all over it.

As for AKA: I think it sounds a little interesting. Willing to give it a try.

And the two Yes albums before, + Badger and guested with Flash....
