I was looking for some time now for an acoustic 12 string BTW I played recently a very nice Danelectro 12 string, great look, easy to play and not too expensive, but yes I wanted an acoustic one and low budget too, my financial crisis is chronicOuch ....so I tried a Fender 12 string made in China which was about the cheapest I could find with a good name, but even so easy to play she had a very thin sound....I tried also a great Seagull which was unfortunately too expensive and so what I normaly don't do for guitars I looked up E bay and I found a Vester that I finally got as a real bargain....Before auctoning I looked up the brand Vester which is quite interesting, the guitars were made in Corea during he 90's for an US company that sold mainly to music schools, they got a law suit from Fender due to the similarity of their logos Dead and the company folded . I read a lot of critics about Vester guitars and nearly all are good and I can say the same now. The guitar wasn't played very much and is  in excellent shape, the neck is perfect and so is the string action (and a nice inlay in the back) A very bright and mellow sound (with new D'Addario Strings) and great to play.....The model number is VDN 322 ....  I would be interested  to know if by chance anyone got the same guitar....

Never heard of them, but hell, if you want I'll ask around at the guitar forums I frequent if they know anything (that is, if you're not already a member of guitar forums).

Sounds like you were lucky to find a 12 string that's easy to play. I have an Ovation 12 string acoustic that my Dad found at a thrift store about fifteen years ago. The original owner played it very little and it probably spent years in the case. After I inherited the guitar I took it in for an action job and it's much more comfortable to play whether doing open chords or bar chords further up the neck.
I would also be interested in more info on the Vester if you find it.

^Did I actually say easy to play?, yes I did, let's say for an acoustic twelve string she is easy to play I play mostly fingerstyle and the neck is wide enough and comfotable and the action is perfect but even with the d'addario light set you feel your fingertips after some time...

BTW here is a Vester fan site which gives good infos about the brand

I personally feel that only two things really matter when you buy a guitar - what your fingers tell you and what your ears tell you. If it feels good under your fingers and the sound is what you're looking for, you'll be happy with it.

The only caveat I've found is that higher end guitars tend to hold their tune better, and you'll get better service on them if you need it. Sometimes they're more durable and sometimes more fragile. That kind of thing is something that might be good to check forums for.

The Fender acoustics I've played are not good. The name only goes so far. And I'm a strat guy with a Fender amp.

Negoba - There is something to what you say about the feel of a guitar. A few years ago I was playing some "open mics" with a friend. No one uses an amp (you just play through the P.A. system) so an acoustic / electric works out well. I decided to buy one and after an hour at Sam Ash Music I had narrowed it down to an Ovation ($1,400) and a Taylor ($2,400). Eventually I decided on the Ovation but not because of the thousand dollar difference. No matter how I played it (open chords, bar chords, lead riffs) the Ovation just felt better and the sound was just as good as the more expensive Taylor.

Interestingly, I bought a Taylor over a Martin for the same reason. I been looking at it for five years before I got an adult salary and saved enough to buy it.

....My father has an Ovation Elite and I often borrow it for gigs, but you have to be able to handle the very thin (top to bottom) neck. Other than that they play great.
