...looks like you had to be born with this first name to become an Italo Western legend, but Numero Uno Sergio Leone overshadows two lesser known Sergios: Sergio Sollima and Sergio Corbucci.
While Leone's work is nearly flawless Sollima and Corbucci have a lot of mediocre and bad films in their filmographie, BUT both have made films that are equal and in some aspects more "progressive" then the Leone ones.
One difficulty is to find good copies, but recently some specialized editions like Blue Anchor (US) , Wild Side and Seven (France) and Koch Media (Germany) have offered excellent re-editions with original length (Italo Western were often shamelessely cut and the original Italian version ( another problem with a lot of Italo Westerns were the "funny" dialogues)
my favourite films for Sergio Sollima:
Resa dei Conti 1966 (The Big Gundown)
Faccia A Faccia 1967 (Face To Face) my alltime favourite Italo Western, with an incredible Soundtrack of Morricone
Corri Uomo Corri 1968 (The Big Gundown Two/ Run Man Run)
and for Corbucci :
Django 1966
Il Grande Silenzio 1967 both films establishing new codes for the genre, far more experimental then Leone
(Vamos Amatar) Companeros 1970
Among the actors you find Gian Maria Volonte, Franco Nero , Fernando Rey, Thomas Milan, Lee Van Cleef Jack Palance, Jean Louis Trintignant, Klaus Kinski and for most of the films the soundtrack of Morricone (BTW quite different from the Morricone ones)
if you are interested try to find one of the edtions I mentionned and you won't regret it!

If I remember correctly, Sergio Sollima also directed the TV series Sandokan, inspired by Emilio Salgari's cycle of the Pirates of Malaysia. The soundtrack to the series was even added to our database by an enthusiastic member , and enjoyed a very brief spell of notoriety before it was removed. The actual series was OK, though not a patch on the books - one of the legends of my childhood years .
