Same procedure as last year ... but let's start a little bit earlier for 2009, shall we? For now the requirement to be listed is that you rate at least one album of 2009 - as the list grows the requirement will eventually be raised to 5 albums. BTW: I'd be glad if you could also take the opportunity to also assign base genre and progressiveness level, particularly if no info has been assigned yet - that will also put the new albums on the http://progfreak.com/srv/progradar.xml - prog radar feed . And, if you also select a proper prog genre for the album, the band will be automatically listed as a suggestion for the proper PA genre team (if it's not already being discussed). http://progfreak.com/home/charts.xhtml?y=2009&arpu=1 - http://progfreak.com/home/charts.xhtml?y=2009&arpu=1 75 users already ... here are the individual charts (new users will be added at the top of the list):     /special-topalbums2009.png">                                                                     |

^ didn't you just rate an album? If you mean that you don't want to tag things (assign genres, progressiveness etc) then that's fine with me. But I'd be glad if you assigned main genre and progressiveness at least for the lesser known artists, because that will put them on the map for other people. Wait. I rated stuff, you tricked me. On a serious note I do like all the degrees you put in to your rating scale, actually makes rating a little easier. ------------- Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Not really. There have been many exciting releases this year, so why not start voting as you're listening to these albums? By the end of the year you'll automatically have the definitive chart, if you keep submitting ratings for every album of 2009 you're listening to. It's really just a few clicks ... |

Just a quick update: I'm currently adding the familiarity level (first listen ... several listens ... very familiar) to the signatures. Currently for all the albums which you marked as "first listen" will result in the rating rendered without background color. I'm planning to add a vertical bar though, to make it more intuitive. Haha, I'm glad to be of service, though I'm still trying to get albums from the past 40+ years! Though I've been getting a good supply of albums lately, and within the day of hearing them I usually put my ratings and tags on PF.
I'm surprised Crack the Skye has a few mixed ratings among users, it has been consistently near the top of the top 2009 list. I'm expecting Part the Second to get number one for the rest of the year though. -------------

1. Maudlin of the Well - Part The Second
2. Dream Theater - Black Clouds and Silver Linings
3. Devin Townsend - Ki
4. The Mars Volta - Octahedron
5. Mastodon - Crack The Skye
Although mind you, once Porcupine Tree's 'The Incident' comes out, spot #1 or #2 might get replaced! =D

New users start at a level of 4/10, users which are aboard for a long time (or which I've known for a long time from this forum) currently have a trust level of up to 8/10. I have a progfreak, but I can't figure out how to get a progfreak sig, so I never actually use it. Anyway, my top 2009 albums (so far) are: 1. Dream Theater- Black Clouds & Silver Linings 2. Phideaux- Number 7 3. Maudlin of the Well- Part the Second 4. Epignosis- Still The Waters 5. IQ- Frequency 6. The Decemberists- The Hazards of Love EDIT: This is subject to change, as I've only listened to a few of these once, I just bought a few more albums I haven't listened to yet, and the new Transatlantic I'm hoping will occupy number one or two. -------------

^ All you need to do is to rate albums and put them on your playlist. You can then go to the signature configuration page and select the appropriate modes. Maybe you rated albums from the chart lists and mixed up the entries? It's a relatively low level, maybe you remember another album that you assigned level 3 to?
