Here in the UK, it's 8:15 am on 31st December.

Given varying time zone differences, at some point in the next 24 hours I can guarantee 99% of ProgArchives members will be turning to somebody (perhaps slightly inebriated) and saying those classic three words.

So from Vicky and I, to all our friends here:

HAPPY NEW YEAR

MAY 2009 BRING HEALTH, PEACE, SECURITY AND HAPPINESS TO YOU AND ALL THOSE YOU CARE FOR.

7:21pm for me now, so less than 5 hours now until the new year.
I shall be saying those words in quite an inebriated state of mind to other people tonight, after a glass of wine........well okay, after about 8 glasses, and I don't mean wine glasses, I mean like proper size coffee mug size cups of wineLOL

Well I'm already started into the Scotch and it's 5AM in Montreal Canada. I'm looking forward to hearing Auld Lang Sein when I'm obliterated out of my head. My wife is driving so the world will be safe. Remember no drinking and driving.

Happy New Year!

It's always double the celebration here, since it's my mother's birthday. So I'm already having a Jameson with my folks, but the real party is bound to start in 10 hours from now.

Happy New Year to everyone, and here's to an amazing prog-rock 2009!! Star

Here on the East Coast of the US it's not yet 9 a.m... still a long way to go before midnight. I would be lying if I said I am not sorry to see this year go.... Though at the end it finally brought me what I had wanted for so long, still it was not an easy year by any means. Anyway, I wish you all the best for 2009 - may it bring to you everything you desireHug!

2008 told me to go to hell (having to take my son to the ER, fearing we might lose him, having lost my job in July and not finding anything since, numerous setbacks with my recording, etc).

So here's to 2009- I hope it's a great year for everyone, full of laughter, love, and prog.  Smile

Vicky and I are going to a 'ticket-only' evening at our local pub, "Our Mutual Friend"; by ticket-only, the landlords mean they're giving the staff a night off & if anyone comes in they don't know as a friend, they're told "sorry, ticket only"... doors being locked at 9:00

...could be an interesting evening

@Uwe: It's okay, I saw the difference back then. If I'm not wrong, the difference was around 250 bands or more between the id count and the actual bands present in the Archives. Wow, 250 wrong additions is a lot. LOL

last ID = 4191

so there are exactly 219 bands/artists which have been deleted in the meanwhile - for what reason ever - that's a lot, you're right!

Don't drink and drive, you might hit a bump and spill your drink.
Also, always wear a seatbelt.  It makes it harder for aliens to suck you out of your car.

Micky and I (who yesterday celebrated our first week of marriageLOL) will be spending the evening at home, just the two of us, enjoying a nice meal prepared by myself. In the best Italian tradition, we will have lentils, which are said to bring luck and prosperity in the new year (something we all need) - though I haven't be able to find cotechino, so we'll eat them with a nice kielbasa sausage. I can also foresee the consumption of vast quantities of sparkling wineWink.

Looking back, a lot happened in 2008.  Most notably graduating high school and starting college, but there have been a lot of crazy things happening too, mostly good, but some bad.  Here's to 2009 being even more exciting and, hopefully, promising with the Bush administration ending.

Unfortunately the new year does not start well in Thailand. Every year things like that happen in a certain part of the world during the reveillon - lack of safety and greed take precious lives everywhere.

It is eight to twelve here in Belgium.

I am rather melancholic tonight. One year ago, on new year's eve 2008, I was chatting with Febus and while we were exchanging wishes, I told him that ,as I do each year, I was listening to one Led Zep song to close the year and would listen to it again as the first one of the new year after midnight.

He had already told me about his health problems and the little time left for him on earth (some twenty-two months according the doctors at the time). He asked me if the song was "Dazed and confused" or  "Immigrant Song". I didn't dare to answer that it was "Stairway To Heaven".

I hope my friend that you took it to reach the prog Walhalla. I am thinking very much of you. I feel solitary now on PA.

I wish to all progheads and their beloved ones a fine 2009.
