If any of you play video games, you'll know that the Final Fantasy franchise is quite famous for its awesome soundtracks composed by Nobuo Uematsu. Well he got a real band together, called themselves The Black Mages and they recorded a lot of the music from the games with a full band with Mr. Uematsu on keyboards, and let me tell you its very proggy!

very awesome, I adore Mr. Uematsu, quite the accomplished keyboardist.

It's great stuff...  it's prog/power, and I love it!

One day, I was kinda spacing out, and didn't realize what I was listening to, and I thought "Holy (edited), this is INSANELY good progressive power metal, who ARE these guys!?"

That's really awesome did they get any cds out or are they just for the game?

And which games are the songs played on?

They're metal covers of songs from the Final Fantasy games. I think they've done a few songs from each of 6 through to 10, but maybe there are more. The actual songs on the games are more midi-like, more orchestral-sounding and more repetitive.
