Caution!!!
If you've any regard for the musical legacy of YES... (and are possessed of a weak stomach)... DO NOT watch this video!!!
On the other hand, if you've ventured forth and viewed the video, perhaps you'll be so kind as to elucidate your fellow prog-rockers with the answer to the following query:
What could possibly have possessed Chris Squire to so thoroughly disgrace himself and trash the musical legacy of Yes in the process?
Is it his desperate attempt to hang-on, at any price, to his long-lost Rock stardom?
Is it his gluttonous, whorish appetite to milk every last penny from the Yes cash-cow?
Or has he simply become a sad, demented, senile, old man?
Do tell...

Agreed!!!!!I watched this video the other night.............was terrible...was only Squire and White.....no Howe and young Wakeman in sight and sordid rendition of the ''lonely heart''..
On the other hand, i am wondering where comes from your total disdain to this ''in the present ''project??? I know it has not been nicely done with Jon Anderson...........but i smell more than just simple anger and deception at the fact that Anderson is not ''present''

damnit.... and I thought that phone call asking me to fill in for Wakeman was a joke...

That's what I heard too.
Ok. So that wasn't the best performance I've ever seen by Squire or White. In fact, the guys in the Fox News band were really the stars of that video. But what's with this person who pops in every week or so to slam Squire, et al.? It sounds personal.

true... but it beats the usual sh*t the studio's are putting out... a little personal crusade against a prog icon here sure beats another thread on best Genesis song to cure insomnia with. More power to him
maybe we need a poll on prog icon you'd piss on before giving a glass of water to....

I don't see the big issue.. a rock band appears on a TV show and plays an out-of-tune version of a hit song.. yeah, so? Happens all the time, it's just a bit of fun. "Milk every last penny from the Yes cash cow?" Give me a break, where of do you speak? "A gluttonish, whorish appetite?" Really? You must've thought the same thing when 90125 was released, right? no issue at all.... Yes's legacy is not going to be ruined if this crashes and burns.. if you are a Yes fan.. you know.. you sort of EXPECT this to crash and burn... that is why we love the group. They are their own worst enemies. That sort of has a charm about it.

One reason the Special Collaborators are just that is that they're right on on this one. This video is not their finest hour, but it's for concert and Alan's charity promotional purposes, which entitles them to forgiveness. Now, if their whole show performance sounded like this, then it would be a rip-off, not for Anderson being left out, but because of sonic sloppiness. Kind of like Aerosmith was until they cleaned up their act.
Pussy G, you're thus far a one-trick pony. My advice is to let it go, and find something positive to share.

Glad to be online at this time and be the first to agree.
Top choice... I understand from friends who know that if you sit near the gentleman at a football match the chances of striking up a conversation are non-existant. About the game, not just Genesis.
Still, it must be so awkward to be the only one in a band not to have had a private education...

^I've always loved his music, and I used to admire him as a person, but his treatment of Jon Anderson at a terrible time in Jon's life is despicable. That's my opinion. If you don't agree, fine. We just don't share the same code of ethics and morals.

Dear me.
I can understand how a fan of '70's Yes (or '90's Yes, for that matter) would be dissappointed in seeing this, but hell, they are playing OWNER!!!! Yes, it's a really crappy song, but it's prob one of the better versions of it that I've heard in a lineup without Rabin. (They prob didn't allow Howe to come along because he seems to intentionally trash this one whenever he has to play it.) This is my first chance to hear the new singer and he seems to have the chops.
Jon and Wakey's lack of involvement is tragic, but if the other three want to tour and can put out a good product, more power to them. Anybody who is outraged about this probably has hours and hours of listening material on vinyl or CD that will make them happy instead.

I'm too old to keep up w/stuff like this, I guess. First of all, what the hell are they doing on FOX??? Any exposure is good exposure? Now hanging out on the right wing Nazi channel is OK??? Former candidate Huck has gone from fundamental Christian preacher to hip happening host? He says how "pumped" he is & then calls Chris Squire "McGuire". I couldn't even watch the song; just Huck's intro was cringe-worthy enough for me.

That was just awful. Everything about it. From the performance, the fill ins, the name gaff, to me realizing for the first time that "Huckaberry Hound the hell were you ever in the running for leader of the free world?" has his own talk show. I thought the networks learned their lesson after my show got canceled. But that's Faux News for ya.
But i digress.
