Hi Guy's, I was wondering, I have around 300 prog cd's, and I think I have now a decent base. I've got most of the good albums from all of the top bands, and a few albums from not so famous bands and spin off's, even a few bootlegs! So I consider my collection quite good, but give me 30 minutes and I can come up with a 100 additions! So I think I still have a long way to go. How many cd's do you guy's own, and do you think it's enough etc etc? ------------- ''progression is trying to eliminate boundries'' |

I have about 200 myself. But there are still so many records I want to buy. my answer is: at least a hundred. It was when I was at about 100 prog albums that I had learned a lot about the mainstream bands, like Yes and King Crimson, and I felt a bit as an equal to most people here. Now I'm exploring more obscure stuff. But there's always more to explore! |

Cant put a figure on it. I have around 150 prog CD's and a stack of vinyl, maybe around 300 or so, but half of them are not prog, and I have many albums on both vinyl and CD. A worthy prog collection should at least have the 'big' albums by all the classic 70's artists IMO. CTTE by Yes, Foxtrot by Genesis, BSS by ELP etc etc An assortment of neo stuff, solo albums and one off projects just puts the icing on the cake.. ------------- Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy! |

My prog collection covers around 100 cd's, and it's definitely light years
away from being worthy 
I vote for the last alternative, which to some means zero, and to me way more than I'll ever have

Nice one ... I often think about it ... I think it's human to want what
you don't have ... I have 300 prog CDs including what might well be
many of the best ever prog albums ... yet I'll go crazy trying to get
my hands on those undiscovered gems ...

I have an amount. I dont know how many though. I think as long as you have the classic prog album, along with a few obscure gems, the collection is good. Also, you gotta like what you have. I have about 100 prog albums, still hoping to find something new and affordable (I can't get any of that Italian stuff in America... I think it matters if YOU think it's worthy. If you don't think so, buy some more!! |

I am in the 250-500 range, but am constantly acquiring more. (Addictions are great aren't they?) But what really matters is not how much you own, but how much you listen to Prog  ------------- Marmalade...I like marmalade. |

you're right! addictions are great! It's just that I want to know the whole story behind all the artists. And to do that I have to keep collecting them, first King Crimson, then all Fripp, then Levin, then Bruford etc etc it just keeps on going until I am ultimately broke!!! ------------- ''progression is trying to eliminate boundries'' |
