Not much choice in terms of Belgian Beers.

Jupiler is my fave Belgian beer. But I am more of a Trappist Beer drinker (dark around 8 or 9%)

I much prefer Lagers because Ales are served not cold enough in the Isles. Castlemaine was my fave with Foster when my parents lived in Scotland (Edimburgh)

The best beers in the world are Belgian!

My 3 favourite (non-Belge) beers are:

1. GuinNess (two n's dammit!)
2. Molson Export (Sorry, I'm a hoser at heart)
3. Heineken

I've been to all 3 breweries, and Heiny gives the best tour with plenty of beer as a 'reward' at the end!

Marmalade...I like marmalade.

Whoa, cease and desist....!

Where are the porters (RCH's Old Slug Porter, in particular)?

Where are the Stouts (Youngs Double Chocolate - mmmmmmmm!)?

Where are the milds (Holdens, Bathams, Black Cat especially)?

And where are the bitters (no, Tetleys filth does not count)...

Deuchars IPA
Adnams Broadside
McMullens AK (which should be branded a mild )
Black Sheep
Theakstons Old Peculiar

Plus faaaaaaaar too many others to mention....

And finally, where's Newcastle Brown Ale (a guaranteed fart in every bottle)?

Huh! Call this a poll?

Thanks Huub and Joren!!

I thought I was going to have to become nationalistic! Stella Artois is Belgian origin but brewed to fit Britsh taste in England . It is almost the same as the Belgian brewed Stella.

What being a canuck my tastes Lie mostly in canadian beers.

Sleeman's cream ale, rickards red, alexander keiths (despite irritating commercials) moosehead (probably the best of the more well known canadian beers, im not going to start on the endless microbreweries), occaisonally Ill dip into a molson export , this excellent french canadian lager that has a picture of satan on the cover dressed up like an angel (great stuff) for the life of me cant remember the name.

For imported stuff I do like guiness, a number of belgian and german beers i cant be bothered to remember because i cant buy them at the corner store. and occaisonally a Stella Artois

hey sean i just said i love chimay gran reserva and its the best beer in the world..... those monks brew good ales in belgium

Posted By: Sean Trane
Date Posted: April 21 2005 at 10:20

Did you know that some brewery in Colorado copied the Orval trappist beer even down to the label and commercialized it as such. The monks went to court in the US and won. Got some big damage thing and gave it away to charities.

Chimay, Orval and Rochefprt Trappist beers are made by monks of the Trappe order and their abbeys are lost in the forest of the Ardennes (french part of the country). The three Flemish trappists beers are also excellent: Westmalle , Achel and WestVleeteren. The last one you can only buy at the entrance of the abbey on wednesday afternoon if they bothered to do any, prayers comming first and you can only buy 5x24 bottles and are not allowed to make a commerce of it.

The Dutch abbey "Koenigshoven" (La Trappe) lost their "Appelation Controlée" when they got another brewery to do their brewing.

very progressive beer brewing!!!!!

I maybe a total atheist but still support these guys.

Ha! India Pale Ale = Into the Pail Ale

So, Mr Garten -- you admit you store your beer next to the heater, then

Ah, Peter - you poor ignorant fool, you; one does not keep one's beer in a heater, one keeps it in the sun, preferably opened, for a few days. Only by storing one's twiggy beer in this manner can one be guaranteed that:

1 - The beer comes nowhere near to room temperature, or (heavens forfend) cold....

2 - In addition to the fermentation of the yeast already in the bottle, new and exciting organisms gather to give the libation that little extra something.

3 - Ooooooooh, the flatulence .

4 - You get to see that cute little nurse in the emergency room again.
