This is my appeal for all Prog fans who plays guitar. There is too little tabulatures of Prog bands in the net. Of course not these big ones ( there are exceptions in here too), but these less commercial bands often has no single tab in xxxxxxxx for example. I'm writing tabs myself on the site I just mentioned, but I'm not very good - I usually make chords just to make it possible to sing with accompaniament. I made such great bands as Gryphon and Le Orme to appear on the list of the bands in ultimate-guitar but I don't have much time to continue this work. So that's why I'm asking you all Prog guitarists for help. Let bring Prog bands back to life ! Wink

ADMIN EDIT: Removed site name.

Actually sharing your tabs should be illegal as far as I know, though playing the music live isn't illegal IF you pay the fee. Most clubs pay it in advance, to organisations, that pay royalties to artists all around so that the performer didn't have to go through that. Transcripting musical pieces to your own use is all ok, but spreading them for free is actually arguable. Some sites that offer tabs pay royalties too though, and some get the artist to grant a permission to share them. But still...

A lot of guitar tab sites got closed down recently due to copyright issues.

Our understanding is that tabs are subject to the same copyright laws as lyrics, etc. As such, this site should not be used for pubishing, exchanging, providing links etc.

Sorry.

but the largerst tab site I mentioned has no problems with that, as far as I know. I put it that way - do YOU see the problem that people are playing and singing prog music? I understand copyright law, but this is going too far ... :/ ... I understand polititians ran out of mind, but you ... prog listeners should be more rational

Playing covers live is subject to copyright - however since the venue is licenced for public performance then you (generally) don't have to pay for playing a cover.

Playing the original recording in public, recording a cover either in the studio or from live performance and publishing the lyrics, score or tabulature in any form is subject to copyright.

There are no grey areas on this - xxxxxxx is subject to the same copyright laws as anyone else - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabulature#Legal_issues - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabulature#Legal_issues

Said site is based in Russia, that is the only reason the legal organisations that went after the tab sites have not been able to shut it down. End of story.
