hehe... that should keep you busy.

My all time favorite female vocalist is probably Toni Halliday of the band CURVE.

In the same vein of Curve, you have Portishead, Hooverphonic, Garbage, Saint Etienne, Baby Fox, Elastica ..

Maybe start with the ones I have capitalized and we'll go from there...

Folks, note this should be 'prog' recommendations, we seem to going down a trip hop road, here..good suggestions though..

I'll always recommend Rennaisance. Annie Haslam has a beautiful voice. On the non prog side of tings, I would definetely second the brilliant and gorgeous Toni Halliday of Curve. Also, try the Cocteau Twins (Liz Frazer) and The Sundays (Harriot Wheeler)

Hello @ all

Thanks for your answers  :)

Hey  Plankowner its much to eat - where should i begin ?

Can You give me some concrete clues - near my Musicexamples? Embarrassed

I'm looking "real simple funky" Rock (not only the Voices) - with much earthy Guitars

- real groovy drums - no computed sounds - not so much sounddesign ;)

Curve, Emiliana Torrini sounds nice (youtube), but i prefer more for "older voices" and  "real rockbrides". Cool

The Gathering, Mostly Autumn good Voices - but im looking more the fleet-footed, danceable kind of Rock.

bye now so far - must explore some of your tips.

PS: This Way around :O)

5678's -> Dance in the Avenue http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfRM2FVIntk - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfRM2FVIntk

Funky Girl http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cqW-WU5Usk - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cqW-WU5Usk

Not soo groovy - but also O.K:

aye..

I'd suggest, Tracy Bonham, Guano Apes, Lauren Hoffman, Jane Jensen's "Comic Book Whore" a must, Save Ferris, PJ Harvey, Liz Phair, Heather Nova ...

Well I must admit when it comes to female artists, it's very hard to put them together in any fashion.. Most either lean toward trip hop or punk.  I'd say go through the list of the easily accessible and let me know what you like and I'll do my best to give you anything similar.

Not many classic sounding females ala, Linda Perry, Janis Joplin... Beth Hart caught my attention with her debut "Screaming for my Supper," but has seriously disappointed me since.  Luxx, also had a very strong female front woman, she's since disbanded Luxx and last I check was doing a series of plays protraying Janis...

Check out Babe Ruth (King By Tor would kill me if I didn't suggest this one LOL)

No, it's her kid sister Melanie - she played bass with Queenadreena on The Butcher & Butterfly

cheers

QUOTE: http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2628 - http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2628

'Pharaoh Overlord' is a side project of the Finnish band 'Circle'.

The group is an instrumental trio, with Janne Westerlund as guitarist,

Jussi Lehtisalo playing both bass and guitar, and Tomi Leppänen playing drums.

Also guitarist Aki Peltonen is on their third record. The band’s music is very repetitive stoner rock,

where the musicians improvise on a single riff and rhythm per track. The acid bands of the late 60’s are their main influence.

One of the best singer/songwriters of all time: Tori Amos. Not prog? well, honestly her music is (or was?) much more daring and inventive than all tose Genesis, Crimso or Dream Theater impersonators out there

Try Groovy Judy. This female American guitarist and singer fancies herself as the female Jimi Hendrix (one song is actually called "Jimi's Sister"!), and her two brilliant albums sound like a cross between Hendrix and Sly & The Family Stone - sleazy, funky, rocking late sixties/early seventies grooves.

A long list, Plankowner, but you left out the Feminist Improvisation Group, featuring, among others, Georgie Born, Lindsay Cooper and Irene Schweizer.
You also forgot Rock Bitch.
