C'mon everybody was by Eddie Cochran - later covered by the Sex Pistols...

What about it?

Well, to be sure they had many prog elements in their music, apart from first two albums. This includes lyrics (influenced by Tolkien mythology) cover designs, long elaborated compositions like "Kashmir", "Carouselambra", "In my time of Dying", "No Quarter" etc. Worth considering for inclusion in the Progarchives IMO.

I was listerning to some Zep albums last night for the first time in ages. Houses of the Holy remains my favourite album, and Rain Song among my top Zep tunes of all time.

Great band, quite proggy at times.

Maybe its because I haven't listened to it a lot, but IN THROUGH THE OUT DOOR is quite an underrated album...  there are some absolute WINNAR!!!!1111 moments on this one that are notably absent on some earlier albums (notably the first three).

The band's best song is "Achilles Last Stand," which pretty much single-handedly influenced the entire NWOBHM movement and paved the way for bands like Iron Maiden.  HOSUES OF THE HOLY is perhaps their best album, and by my estimation the most proggy.

A good band that has suffered from overexposure... everytime "Stairway to Heaven" comes on the radio, I change the channel in disgust.  I've simply heard it way too many times.

So there is no doubt that majority of their albums are excellent. Yes they were overexposed by showbiz , but behind that they were truly expanding the boundaries of rock music. They definitely had more "prog" elements than many bands included here in the archives, remaining at the same time "rock" band.

Led Zep, I think, probably would protest being added to the Archives (if they knew about us) because they were always more blues- than classically- or jazz-influenced. The first two albums and Presence are very much blues. III is mostly folk. They aren't prog but pseudo prog.

The Battle of Evermore is one of the most unusual songs to ever make it onto the radio.

I've suggested the Various Archives section for bands like Zep, but no one seems to notice.

Dead right John

I can't stand 'Stairway to heaven',in my view as equally as annoying as Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' & John miles 'Music was what i did for a joke''
