Just signed up and figured i should drop by here and say hello. I'm Ryan, I play drums and guitar, and i'm been looking to expand off of the prog I am currently enjoying.

Some of my favorite bands that fall into the elusive prog genre include Rush, Led Zeppelin, Tool, The Mars Volta, Meshuggah, Jethro Tull, Porcupine Tree, and some King Crimson.

I listen to a lot of reggae, metal, roots and modern blues(really get into the old delta blues), jazz, and even a bit of classical. Other then that i jam out to a ton of classics from the 70s.

Any advise on where I should look to next would be greatly appreciated. I hope to get to know you  all well soon.

Welcome to the forums, Ryan! Hug

Hmm... do you listen to much folk music? There's a ton of fantastic and emotive stuff out there in just about any flavour you could ask for. I recommend you check out Jan Dukes de Grey, Spirogyra and Comus for starters. Also, you should check out http://www.progarchives.com/subgenre.asp?style=12 - the Canterbury Scene as well. Start with Caravan, they're extremely likable.

If you want any other recommendations, feel free to drop a PM my way! Smile
