This is probably too simple. What Prog hero played on Cat Stevens' cut "Morning has Broken." "MHB" is an old English folk song. The instrumental parts of the song we know are part of a prog CLASSIC from the same hero. Name the Hero and the tune the breaks for "Morning has Broken" were taken from?

In concert Rick played his original and then played Morning Has Broken. I was familiar with both, but never put them together. |

Danbo: By the way, since Teaser and the Firecat came out in 1971 and Six Wives came out in 1973, this means Wakeman wrote the "theme" for Stevens and then "appropriated" it for himself later... Peace. |

When I saw Wakeman on the solo piano tour, he said he was practicing the piece as a warm up in the studio and Cat Stevens overheard him. CS then asked RW if he could use it to flesh out "Morning Has Broken" because it was a simple folk song with chords and lyrics. Wakeman said "yeah" and that was that. My source for the trivia question is Rick Wakeman and he could be just stroking his own ego, but..... |
