From myspace.............

NEWS!

We're just out of a meeting!

Marillion Album 15 will be called "Happiness Is The Road".

It will consist of 2 separate CDs (full details on www.marillion.com/preorder). Volume 1 is subtitled "Essence" and Volume 2 is subtitled "The Hard Shoulder".

"Essence" (Volume 1) is evolving at the moment into a thematic journey, whilst Volume 2 is more a collection of discrete songs. Recording is still going brilliantly and the new songs we've written have 'knocked out' the few people we've played them to.

More soon..

h, Pete, Mark, Ian, Steve

The titles for the 2 volumes (discs) do appeal more to me than the album title :o

The album title's fine. It doesn't have to be called "Court Jester Flies the Armadilloship to the Moon-buddha" to be prog... ;P six hundred times zillion better than "Somewhere Else" as a title.

... *giggles* but it's sad that we fixate on these things so much.

I don't think he meant anything against the band/CD by that (unless that person has had anti-Marillion actions in the past...that I don't know).

But it isn't a great title. Tongue I agree with lappy, much better than Somewhere Else however.

I'll still be getting it though.

C'mon, I like the title! I agree with some people on the Marillion forum that it does sound like some sort of beat poetry thing. It could also be a Neal Peart book.

And It is pretty original, understated, and sincere as far as titles go.

I know, but this happens a lot. I remember people griping about Snakes & Arrows when the title was first made public. Didn't think it warranted criticism until the whole package was presented.

I understand. I just think its a fair point to make as long as it doesn't influence your opinion about the album/band.

it's actually a quote from buddha … “there is no road to happiness – happiness is the road.“

i've ordered mine! it's bound to be better than “somewhere else“.

Some of you guys can really work up comments on details that are almost insignificant (with, of course, the opportunity of punching some irony).. Until I'll hear the relation between the music and the title of the album, it's just a title. And even afterwards, the music will count more than the title(s).

(I'm anyway glad the happy title makes Stoney happy. WinkSmile)

I can't help myself, but I have to think that Marillion still is influenced by VdGG. a double CD with a different theme on each? now where in the present or near past have I seen that before?

I have been always wondering why there are such lots of words said about the titles.
I don't care. I just know that it's not a Marillion what it used to be in 80's.Smile
Anyway, great news. Marillion is very mature nowadays - actually 2 albums in a row.

I really don't care that much about the title as long as the music is good. I hope they return to the Marbles or Brave "darkness".

Mark Kelly podcast with 3 brief sound clips. It's only 3 clips off a double album, but they all sound better than anything off SE to me. LOL

Ooh, I hear some great new ideas on the clips here. Sounds like Marillion is developig to something pretty awesome, though with 15 seconds you can't really make assumptions. But I can sense a charge in the air

There's actually a debate going on over at Marillion's forum page and the artist is even chiming in. Seems to be glowing in the praise and being respectful of the criticisms.
