I hear they are amazing instruments, but haven't had the pleasure of hearing one played myself. Anyone here either own or played one firsthand? I'm looking into saving up for one . . .

Pity. I once spoke to a guy who actually went to the shed where Conklin makes his guitars and he was able to play the fanned-fretted 8 strings. Said they had piano-tone warmth.

If I ever can afford it I'm going to order a Conklin bass.
