Definitely. I don't think a single one will be too much of a blowout like some of the first ones.

Yeah, I see what you mean, but I hope not. I really like ELP and I definitely don't understand their stance on this site. I love Rush even more, but I'll admit that it's more understandable for them to be more controversial, but ELP? Man, as you pointed out though, Camel over Magma by a landslide really says something.

Yeah, I agree. I really like Moonmadness alot and I like some of their other stuff decently too, but I agree completely. Magma didn't click fully on me until a few weeks ago, and I've been listening to them so often since. The music is completely brilliant. They really need to print a Kobaian dictionary so I can learn all of the words, haha.

Magma grabbed me hook line and sinker from the the listen.. of the first album... but I started with the album to start with. The debut album Kobaia. God .. I will be buried with that album.

I actually heard the debut first too, a few months back, and I loved it. But for some reason, I listened to 1001 Centigrades, thought it was okay, then heard MDK, and I didn't really know what to think. Because I've been getting into so much music lately, they just kinda disappeared out of my listening habits...but they're easily becoming one of my favorite bands ever already now and MDK is one of my favorite albums.

the only one that really grabbed me off of 1001 was 'Iss' and that mainly for the live version on the Live at Bruxelles 1971 album. wow... much better than the studio version.

Hmm... then maybe I need to hear that. Iss was the first song I liked as well, but now I really love all of Magma's studio albums that I have. I consider myself bordering on Magma fanboyism since I rank the albums like this: 1. MDK 2. Kobaia 3. Udu Wudu 4. Wurdah Itah 5. Attahk 1/2 6. K.A. 1/2 7. Kohntarkosz 8. 1001 Centigrades
Or something like that. Haha.

Two great bands. I always liked Yes (well, always since I started listening to their albums), but I couldn't appreciate Gentle Giant in the beginning, except for Acquiring The Taste. Now I must say that GG's music has really grown on me, especially Three Friends and Octopus. GG's Giant In The Box is one of the best progressive rock video's I ever saw.
Still, I keep listening to Yes albums, and I like almost every album they did from the seventies a lot, but also the debut, 90125 and AWBH. Even when I heard them many, many times, they keep being exciting for me. So I vote for Yes.

I haven't heard enough Giant to make a real judgement, but I think Acquiring The Taste is one of my favourite albums in terms of how acquired it is and how memorable it is once acquired. Not voting here, though I think that in the end CTTE would destroy all.

Someone said they don't forsee too many blowouts, but that's exactly what I see for the first four brackets. I do think KC v. VdGG will be very interesting, and the last three seem harder to predict. But the first four will be Genesis, ELP, Yes and Rush without a doubt.

And rightfully so!!! GG is. . . ok i guess. but its a difficult sound to get into. I much prefer Yes. Yes, Yes should win it. Yes all the way. there is no way Yes can or should be beaten, except maybe by Genesis (and thats a stretch i said it) .
PS - when you say 'yes' that much it kind of loses its meaning... its a weird feeling.

you predict ELP walking the dog with Camel.... the same CAmel that smoked Magma... Magma... oh no.... there is an affinity at this site for the prog-lite of groups like Camel and Genesis. I'll be surprised if ELP is close.. more so if they win.

Yep! I'm already gathering up steam for this one!
I went with our beloved Yesmen in this poll. GG is enjoyable enough, no doubt about it, and out of the three records I have, I readily give two of them four stars (Octobus and Three Friends) But since CTTE is pretty much my all time favourite record, with The Yes Album not far behind, I can't see how I could vote any other way.

Indeed, but I think KC might have a slightly tough time with VDGG (though they'll still win) and I think the Opeth v. Zappa one will really be interesting because it'll bring up two completely different artists with fanbases that may be big on here but not near as to the forefront as even Dream Theater's. I think the biggest blowout is probably already over, and that's Genesis v. Dream Theater. And yeah, Tull will probably win that, but I'd say Mahavishnu will get a decent amount of votes.
If you guys actually care, I could post some (or all, or whatever) of the brackets people actually filled out, since seeing the differences and similarities is interesting. One weird thing I noted is that every single person had Yes over Gentle Giant, and that no one had Opeth over Frank Zappa (those who had anything over Zappa said The Moody Blues over Opeth and then over Zappa, but that obviously didn't happen).

KC vs VDGG looks a very tough one and PF vs PT should be a blowout for PF but I've got a sneaky feeling it will be tight.

When I actually closed the polling and took the results, it was 23-22 in Marillion's favor. When I checked later on, about a day later, that's when the other vote must have snuck in.

Opeth v. Zappa... the same... Zappa has a fanatical.. but limiting fanbase since his discography is so daunting. Opeth is a band that the new ..and old prog fans can really dig. Won't be close I suspect.

That's interesting. I'd say they're pretty good predictions, but we'll see what happens. I just hope Zappa at least makes this round, since I have him winning (I am a Rush and Zappa fanatic, but I realize how Rush is on this site). I rather prefer Yes I know all of it and I can listen it always. GG I thin k it has great songs but too experimental for my taste of course the supreme Octopus and Free Hand I love those but still don't compare to Yes Album, Fragile, CTTE, TFTO or Relayer.
