Well, the symphony X album was only released three weeks after the spock's beard one, so probably not.

At that time, both bands were on the same label. My suspicion is someone in the art department got lazy and skimped on the Spock's Beard album. Why do I say that? Because I think the CGI probably took longer back then. That and they probably thought it would be funny to see how many people would catch it. |

There was an interview I read of one of the bands (I think SX, but I'm not sure) and he had no idea about the other band's artwork being so similar. |
