A simple poll. Pick your favorite Stooge. I'm excluding Ted Healy because he never really seemed to be an authentic Stooge to me.

A brief history of the personnel:

Shemp was part of the original line-up with Moe and Larry, but left in 1932. Moe's brother Curly replaced him and worked until he had a debilitating stroke in 1946. Shemp came back to fill Curly's role and died of a heart attack in 1955. Shemp was replaced by Joe Besser who was a stooge until 1957, when Besser left to care for his ailing wife. "Curly Joe" DeRita replaced him in 1958 starring during the Three Stooges "movie period." After Larry Fine suffered a stroke during the filming of Kook's Tour (the last Stooges film), Moe Howard asked Emil Sitka to replace Larry. Emil Sitka never appeared as a Stooge although he made many appearances in their short films dating back to 1947. The Three Stooges ended in 1975 when Moe Howard died.

I consider the classic lineup Larry, Curly and Moe.

I always liked Larry.

I have to go with Shemp.  In my mind, he had the best lines.
Like this one, "OW! A dog bit me!"(Shemp stabbed himself in the rump with an axe) from Blunder Boys.
