I heard about this; apparently Guns N Roses came in at Number 1...for an album that hasn't even been officially released. Yet more evidence of Classic Rock magazine's very disappointing and tedious love-in with anything even remotely related to Guns N Roses (a band I find almost overwhelmingly average, really, but that's besides the point I guess).
A lot of albums I enjoyed within the prog realm this year, though. Not usually a huge DT fan by any means (even though I have most of their albums...) but I think 'Systematic Chaos' is one of the few things they've done which justified a lot of the praise they get. I agreed with Maani's review on this one totally.
Loved both the Rush and Porcupine Tree albums, great to see them justly awarded. But it's interesting that the public's vote for Classic Rock had the Porcupine Tree album as the album of the year.
Not sure what I've made of that Radiohead one. I can't help but feel some of the praise it got was fawning music journalists yet again falling over themselves to keep up with an industry trend. It's certainly better than 'Hail To The Thief' was, IMHO, but then 'OK Computer' and 'The Bends' aside I'm generally elusive to their charms, really. It has some moments I really like but not sure if I like it as a whole yet, to be honest. Is it just me, but despite the hype about it being 'a return to strong melodies', I can't actually recall many of these alleged melodies offhand??
The Marillion album 'Somewhere Else' has actually grown on me a lot since I've heard it live- either first-hand or via DVDs/CDs. I don't think either 'Most Toys' or 'Last Century For Man' work on the album; they feel out of place with the mellow vibe of the rest of the album. BUT, 'Most Toys' really works live- I saw them play it a few days ago and it was enjoyable, and the live version on that 'Somewhere In London' DVD is even better. I gave it a 2.5/3 star when I reviewed it, now I think I'd be more inclined to give it 3.5-4 stars. The Fish album really should have been in CR's poll, IMHO- maybe it will next year when it gets a retail release, as it's easily his best since 'Sunsets On Empire' IMHO.
Got the Blackfield II album yesterday and quite enjoyed it on first listen. How did that Robert Plant/Alison Krauss album fare in that poll? I must confess to being underwhelmed at first but it gets better and better every time I listen to it.
CR reviewed that new Genesis live album positively (as did Mojo, who surprisingly gave it 4 stars) but I have to say I was ever so slightly disappointed with that one. Not that I was disappointed with their performance, but it lacks a live vibe, IMHO- the crowd are undermixed and all of Phil's banter with the crowd has been cut. I hope the DVD will be a better representation of the tour.

^ Yes Salmacis, it was Guns 'n' Roses at number one: as you say, an album not even released  and personally I couldn't give a monkeys if it's never released.
Rush were far more deserving of the number 1 spot IMO rather than no 2.
The Robert Plant/Alison Krauss album made no 22 by the way.

oh come now Eric... I have listened to them....S&A's several times.. and own FOABP... not bad albums... but if those are 2 of top 3 albums released in 2007... something is very....very wrong... and since I see an album not even released in #1... having those two where they are.. sort of makes a bit more sense.
