Probably all of the above.
I cant wait for this one.I am curious why they chose an outdoor arena for Adelaide though. I wouldn't have thought they had a big enough fan base for it. Saw Muse the other week and they couldn't fill our Entertainment centre nor could Tool a few years ago.
In the space of 3 months I will have seen Muse,Zappa plays Zappa and Dreamtheater.
Woohoo.

hey i am from adelaide too! yeah my mates and i were surprised with the showgrounds venue, but with the setup they're coming over here with, its probably the better setting. nice brezze outside etc. couldn't imagine thebbie theatre or ent centre for DT. its gonna be soooooo great!

Definitely location. With places like North America and Europe you have many venues in a relatively small area. With Australia you have to haul all your crew and equipment to a giant island far from everywhere where you can play maybe 5 locations if you're lucky (Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Perth), all of which are quite far from each other. It's a lot of effort for little gain. This year hasn't been too bad though, we got Gigantour (Megadeth, Lacuna Coil), Machine Head, Trivium, Arch Enemy, NIN, Mars Volta and DT. I was too broke to attend mot of them but I've already got my DT tickets. Can't wait!

I see them live in Melbourne in just over 5 hours from now 'An evening with Dream Theater', and from what I've heard the set list is about 3 hours long.

Saw the concert in Melbourne at Festival Hall on Tuesday night. Confirmed my opinion that John Petrucci is at the top of the game as a world class guitarist. Absolutely amazing stuff. Puts chills up your back listening to him live. Jordan Rudess equally impressive on keyboards. To keep pace with Petrucci like that is amazing. My son who went to the concert with me suggested that James Hetfield on vocals might do the rest of the band justice. I told him that Hetfields' ego would ruin the band. Personally, Russell Allen or David Coverdale would slot in quite nicely to that unit IMO. LaBries' vocals are good most of the time but he struggles in a band that has such highly skilled musicians. He does a good job as a frontman though. Fortunately DT do alot of instrumental work and solos which made for an excellent concert.
I think DT will be coming back to Melbourne at least as they received an extremely warm reception.
