Maybe I`m wrong, but I wanted to ask this question. Now that their bank accounts are in better shape after their "Hits" tour, I think that they should seriously consider to join forces with Gabriel and Hackett for a tour which could include a full live performance of "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" album. I think that a DVD recording of this very good music could be very interesting, at least for me. What do you think?

I'd certainly be interested. I don't think that a full Lamb Lies Down performance would interest me as much as a more mixed set from their prog stage, together with a few later Genesis and individual solo tracks thrown in. |

I would definitely go, though it heavily depends where they would have performed. Im not made of money you know, though it would have been depressing if I had missed it considering Genesis is one of my favorite bands! ------------- RIO/AVANT/ZEUHL - The best thing you can get with yer pants on! |

i would dish out 200 euros to go to that concert. this year I've seen Peter Gabriel, Genesis and the musical box and all were really great. a mix of all these would sure blow me away. that and the early genesis are my favorite band - so not going to that kind of concert is not an option for me. :) i really hope they will reform in the next few years. ------------- http://www.last.fm/user/dAJaro/?chartstyle=basic10">

I would go anywhere in the UK to see the original line up. I would cross the street to avoid the "hits" line up!

not interested in either but I love classic genesis , I've seen too many times people get together again after years of not working together and it hardly ever works the magic is gone .. its over. |

Before PA, I probably would've been happy with the current lineup;
however, if anything has happened to this old fart in the past year and 3/4 is how much I've come to love and appreciate the early incarnation of Genesis. And from what I've seen of the set list, it's been a pretty balanced one on this tour. I wish that I could've been there. I did vote for the Gabriel/Hackett lineup, though. E -------------

Yes, it was a more balanced set list, but most songs (shown in blue in the set-list by me) were hit singles or were part of the set lists of their tours since they became a trio. Most of these songs were from their most commercial albums ("Genesis", "Invisible Touch", "We Can`t Dance"), so I consider this a predominantly hits set list. And once again, they played some o the Prog songs in Medleys, as they have done since they became a trio.
Some years ago I gave my e-mail address to one of the now defunct Genesis official websites that were launched before their present official website. Recently, I received some e-mail messages from EMI / Virgin (despite sending to them a message to delete my e-mail address from their data base, some years ago too). They were offering a new expanded version of the "Turn It On Again - The Hits" CD to celebrate their 2007 tour. So, in my opinion,this tour was more with the intention to promote the band as Hit-Makers, not as a Prog band.This tour also coincided with the re-issues of the new and expanded remastered versions of their CDs with Collins as lead singer. Most albums from this period are from the trio line-up, and most albums were in the Top Ten of the Hit Parade Charts in the U.K. and /or in the U.S. ------------- Avatar: Photo of Solar Eclipse, Mexico City, July 1991. Yes. The set list could be more mixed. But I really could prefer a live version of "The Lamb" played as they did it in their 1974-1975 tour. I have seen photos from those days and I think that seeing them playing this album live could be more interesting for me. The live version include in their "Archives 1967-1975" Box Set is great, in my opinion (better than the studio version), despite Gabriel overdubed most of his vocals in the 90s. ------------- Avatar: Photo of Solar Eclipse, Mexico City, July 1991. Yes, it`s true. I hope Gabriel could change his mind. His overdubed vocals in the "Archive 1967-1975" Box Set are a good example that he still can sing those old songs with Genesis.
Maybe their official website could do this kind of Polls to see that many fans want this Reunion.
I have nothing against them as a trio. In fact, I like some of their songs from that period. I also don`t have nothing against Chester Thompson and Daryl Stuermer. They are very good musicians. As far as I know, it seems that the five musicians are friends. So, in comparison to a Pink Floyd Reunion Tour with Roger Waters, a Reunion of the Genesis quintet could be more possible, in my opinion. They said in the varoius documentrys i've seen about genesis that have come out recently about the last tour they said that they were all sat in a room talking aboutit at one point but peter gabriel had his own tour in the pipeline so couldn't commit to a tour with them so turned it down, they wanted to do it. From thing they have said I certainly see it happening.
The last tour was very mixed, went to the London show and it was brilliant, only problem some of there best stuff was after gabreil in my opionion (trick of the tail, wind and wuthering) and while OK itr went downhill after that, well duke was good. Anyway I see it happening and will be the first on in the line of tickets. -------------

Well, at this point in time I really don't care about Peter Gabriel (unless he stops looking like he's 62 years old), I'd be happy with just Steve Hackett. Trick-lineup FTW!!! But...WITH Peter Gabriel? HELL YA I'D GO! But I'd hope that they'd play a good mix of the Gabriel-era, and not just The Lamb. (But if they DID play just The Lamb, they had better play "Twilight Alehouse" as an encore! I will now receive my comfort, conjured by the magic power of wine...) |

No. But Steve Walsh of Kansas had his voice almost "destroyed" in 1992 (in the "Kansas Live at the Whisky" CD). In their "Device Voice Drum" DVD from 2002, I was surprised a lot to see that he recovered his voice. So, in many cases a good singer can recover his good voice. I see that many people want to see this Reunion happen. I really expected this in this website, but I had some doubts, because many people only prefer tthe Banks / Collins / Rutherford line-up.
Gabriel 25 years ago used some of the costumes and masks from the past during the Reunion Benefit Concert with Genesis for WOMAD (called "Six of the Best"). It could be interesting to see him using the Slipperman costume and others. But even if he doesn`t use them, it could be interesting too to see Genesis with Gabriel and Hackett, at least for me. ------------- Avatar: Photo of Solar Eclipse, Mexico City, July 1991. That time has come and gone for Genesis. Even if they all got back together again, they would find a way to *pop* it up.
