Since everyone is making ELP threads I thought I'd join in, is ELP really prog? or do they just have prog moments?  I don't think that question matters to me, because either way their attempts are poor ones

Oh dear. Why perpetuate this ELP thing? I think your just baiting karn.. Looking for a fight??

Yes, ELP are a prog rock band. They are not my favourite band, but they have had some great moments. You are not obliged to like them. You dont have to listen to them or exchange views with those that do.

Good job that Three fates is fast asleep in her old Sweatshirt that Greg lake left at her flat.

That advert on telly (the budweiser one) - always reminds me that my wife likes to lounge around in my Old Sweatshirts........

ELP are definately Prog Rock!

This thread is the red-rag to a bull so to speak - KE9 is sure to get on his soap box.

Swinton..Drop the bollox now friend, this is quite obviously a direct wind up aimed at myself & three fates..which i'm not even gonna attempt to bite back  at.But can i ask why yourself & one or two others keep pryinging into Linda's sex life?

Mr KE9 - Linda is a big-girl - she has used far more personal insults on this site than most - Thus if she gives it out, she must expect it back - My post is only repeating facts that she has posted on here herself - She has made her bed (so to speak).........

I showed some of these messages to the Irish boyfriend last night... He was surprised that all of you are adults.   He said, "Why do you bother with those f**king idiots"... actually he said "iggots"... but I'm getting better at understanding him now...

I'm still amazed at how jealous all of you are of Greg tho... thats just priceless!!

You know the really sad thing about bands from the good old days that are still on the go???

Yep you guessed it!

dried up,desperate & it's so painfulll to see it.

I hope & pray that ELP don't re-form to end up like these old bands.

Actually I saw Yes last year and thought it was a great show.  I saw Keith Emerson doing Tarkus a lot last year.. and thought it was great, but would be a hundred times better with Greg and Carl.  I saw some of the KC boys in the 21st Century Schizoid Band... and I thought they did great.  I saw Caravan and that was an excellent show. Nektar would of been excellent if they could of turned the sound down half way... otherwise it was painful..

So just because they were great in the 70s, don't mean they can't still put on a great show...

Very true when it comes to playing their old material but it's the new stuff that's killing them

Saying that everyone knows Yes took a turn for the worse with '90125','Big generator'  etc...tragic stuff if you ask me but i borrowed the 'Key to ascenssion' sets a while back & quite liked that studio stuff on there...but not a patch on the old gear.

Cor blimey guys (and gals).

We should all be celebrating the fact we all love such diverse and different bands.

All this we hate you so you're no good neena neenana bull is not very appealing to new members.

Where are the Moderators/Admins?

Surely there should be some sort of message to stop all the hatred.

So lets get on with chilling to Camel/ELP/yes/Wishbone Ash or whomsoever tickles your fancy.

I think she is talking live and you studio.  I think all these bands can still play live.  The studio seems to be the trap as they still try to find how they put their music in a unwelcoming world of  commerical music.  The only bands that are doing that are on Indie or small labels.  The only problem is not many are making money.

If you want to hear a great studio album by a 70-'s group try Proto Kaw.  They reformed after 30 years after never getting a record contract.  From the reports of the live shows they are doing they are getting good reviews as are their studio albums.

Man, what's with some of you guys?  Threefates is one of our best posters, as is Ke9 and so many others of you.  Some of them have an unhealthy obsession with ELP.

GUESS WHAT!?

We're PROGGERS.  Unhealthy obsessions with bands that most people don't care for is WHAT WE DO.  Do we really have to right amongst ourselves with the same jabs that we get from the public at large?  We should LOVE each other!  In bed AND out!

I have an unhealthy obsession with:  The Mars Volta, King Crimson, Pain Of Salvation, The Flower Kings, and the sexy Daniel Gildenlow.

I would make love to this man.

Now, make fun of THAT instead of someone's energetic appreciation for the works of mssrs Emerson, Lake, and Palmer.

Could you REALLY make love to a man ??? - This hero worship is a strange phenomenon, I love Genesis and Yes - but if I was sat in a Restaurant with my wife and Mr Hackett or Mr Howe was on the table next to me - I would ignore them in favour of the Wife who has given me my two fine sons, I bend my knee to no man......

They are just human beings who can play instruments....thats all !!!!

sorry to have offended those who I did, obviously ELP is prog, I meant this to be a bit satirical.

and spartacus,I don't think Test for Echo is a prog album. I was actually listening to Video Vertigo when  I registed (i sure am creative) its got prog potential but isn't really progressive.

Fair enough. If I was in the restaurant and assuming your wife is a 'looker' then I would probably ignore them as well.

Well,to say I would ignore them is probably going too far. After all,I've been a massive Hackett fan since I was 14 so ignoring the fact that he was sitting right next to me would be a bit on the impossible side. But as for having sex with him (if he swung that way),absolutely bloody not under any circumstances whatever!

Ironically, in just about every prog (or metal, interestingly enough) community I've been deep in besides this one, homosexuality/bisexuality is DEFINITELY considered prog (or metal).  Not sure why, but there seem to be more people "out" in the prog or intelligent metal circles than, say, country.
