The Mars Volta's upcoming album's artwork:  Jeff Jordan seems to be going out of his way to make them look as prog rock as possible  The Bedlam in Goliath- Release date slated to be January 29th song titles licensed to Omar and Cedric currently: ABERINKULA AGADEZ ASKEPIOS CONJUGAL BURNS GOLIATH ILYENA METATRON SOOTHSAYER TOURNIQUET MAN WAX SIMULACRA OUROBOROS CAVALETTAS - RECALL -------------

I don't think the art is quite as good as their previous albums, but I'm sure the album will be good. The art for De-Loused is really cool, especially the alternate cover that has the head floating on top of the water. ------------- . |

 I wholeheartidly agree. Amputecture was their best album in my opinion--by far, but no one seemed to really praise it as such.

Man, I want to like this band. I have Deloused, Frances, and Amputechture.... And every time I listen to it, my ears begin to hurt. There is this weird high-pitched noise that is almost constant throughout all of their albums that I just can't get past.....

/\ I kinda personally prefer Thorgerson's work to Jordan's....it looks kinda cool but a bit cliched. It's not confirmed as the album's official cover though

Even though Amputechture's was bad, I think this is definately worse because the colors are so freaking oversaturated it hurts my eyes besides being a completely asinine concept. Why do you say "dissonant, meaningless screeches" as if it were a bad thing?

not sure this is actually it but this came up on the Comatorium the actual alleged cover...I kinda like it more because it's not as contrasting/ridiculous. However, I'm feeling they should lose the desert theme after this album : / -------------

Volta are actually highly, HIGHLY canorous compared to bands like Time of Orchids and Upsilon Acrux...just to throw some names out there that to ME at least are quintessentially dissonant and meaninglessness...more so the former.
But yeah, back on subject, the artwork's alright if that's real, I actually think the turban butterfly/moth/flower hybrid is more daring w/r/t Jeff Jordan's work, but meh...
