I think The Empire Strikes Back is the best of them, I voted for it, but Episode 4 also has something very special, as it was the first.

Revenge of the Sith easily.  AOTC and ESB are the runners-up.  Overall, I found the prequels much more satisfying than the original trilogy.

That's sacrilegious.

"The Empire Strikes Back" far and away the best IMO.

All of the originals are amazing, but I think my favourite is episode VI. The end is phenomenal.

I'm a sacrilegious kind of guy.  But I think that first of all, the characters in the original series were kind of stock characters, the farm boy turned hero, the roguish friend, the old wise man, the princess, etc.  Also, there was no political intrigue, simply small rebel army vs. giant imperial army.  The latter two were actually better than the first one, but IV I really don't care for much at all.  Also, I think the whole jedi vs. sith storyline was too underplayed in the original trilogy.  I find that whole thing much more interesting than space battles and blowing up giant superweapons.  I wanted more lightsaber action.

The prequels on the other hand I thought had much more well-thought out characters.  It had plenty of political intrigue and went in-depth into the jedi/sith storyline that was so missing from the original trilogy.  Finally, and I know I'm probably alone here, but I find the acting in the prequels much better.  Hayden could act circles around Mark Hammill.

Hayden is a dreadful actor. I'm told I look like him.

But the originals were so much more genuine than the newer ones.

love all six... taken as a whole it's an amazing series barring JarJar and a few horribly sappy moments, best individual films probably episodes 3 and 4.

I hear you....I saw it many, many times as a 11 year old kid in 77 and it wasn't Episode 4:A New Hope.It was just Star Wars.

I personally like all the movies but from the OT I would definitely pick The Empire Strikes Back. From the PT it is without a doubt Revenge of The Sith.I love that movie,I waited a lonnnngggggggg time to see Anakin Skywalker turn to the Dark Side and honestly, the movie didn't disappoint.

I'm more of an OT guy, but I also like the political play. I especially like TPM, which I think is the best of the prequels... I often get bashed for it, but I don't care.

Palpatine comes from the latin root 'palp' which means to gently stroke or touch. That's frickin' deep man.

Return of the Jedi for me. Even though the space battle at the beginning of Episode III was larger, it wasn't as dynamic as in RotJ.

I was cool with all the extra scenes until the very last seen where they plugged in the young Anakin. Being as a can't stand the actor that they chose for him, I was appalled. At least they didn't kick Guiness for MacGrego.

I'd personally love to see episodes IV-VI completely redone, with new (better) actors, and a better story line which links it with I-III more.  Things that were left out of IV-VI which I think would make the story more interesting (Anakin/Vader as the Chosen One, more focus on Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine - in the original trilogy, Yoda and Ben act like defeating Vader is all Luke has to do to bring down Palpatine and they both should know better than that, eliminate plot errors such as "I don't remember ever owning a droid", have more on the force ghost thingy and why Anakin is able to perform such a feat and so on).  In other words, focus more on the things that make the star wars prequels so great and less on the things that make the original trilogy not so great (giant superweapons and lots of space battles - boring!).

I was 15 years old when I saw The Empire Strikes Back. I was in Chicago and my English wasn't that good, so I missed a lot of what it was all about. I liked the movie, I liked the robots and the laser fights and all, but when I saw the Return Of The Jedi in the Netherlands I really got into the Star Wars thing. Other Star Wars movies never had that much of an impact on me, though part 4 (Star Wars) and The Empire Strikes Back come close.

some of the new scenes were OK, the little things, but the new Greedo/Han scene sucks.. he's Han Solo, if he wanted to shoot someone he did it... and the new Jaba scene was absolutely moronic with Han 'stepping over' the tail... no, I don't think so

I only know them with the new scenes...I mean, I've seen the originals, but that was so long ago and I don't remember. I've come to embrace and cherish the stupitidy of those scenes Smile

That being said, all the movies were better than most movies ever. I'd probably say the 5th (2nd?) whatever it be called, ESB.

again with the that being said, the cantina scene is one of the coolest scenes ever (music is still stuck in my head as I speak)

Dude totally, Han Solo was a Mercenary and that's what they do. I refuse to ever watch a new hope again because of this. South Park totally hit the nail on the head with the episode where they try to stop Lucas and Spielberg from ruining Raiders Of The Lost Arc. Man if Indiana in the new movie doesn't pull a gun out and shoot someone......

Oh, I still have my old VHS copy of Star Wars  that I bought before they new hoped it up, I'll never part with it. To me, that was, is and always will be Star Wars.

Easily the return of the Jedi! The most progressiveStar wars episode, filled with epic battles and a complex plot.

Episode one is pretty bad, two is better, I liked three a lot, 4 is kinda slow, 5 is really good too.

The end of 4 is extremely epic, Schizoid!!! The tiny rebellion blowing up a massive space station with miniscule one-man fighters? With a time-limit, to boot? And the kid who pulls it off was just a simple farmerboy? If that's not epic, what is?
