I have installed a program (F-secure anti virus) that has an option to scan webtraffic. While visiting progarchives it has reported as follows:
1
While scanning webtraffic a virus was discovered,

I don't think a .jpg file can contain a virus, can it?

Apparently this is only a danger for users who either use old versions of Windows (98, ME) or who don't update their computer regularly.

BTW: Statistics of my website show that even one year after MS Internet Explorer 7 has been released more than 50% of all IE users still use version 6 ... do you guys *want* your computer to be infected?

You said it yourself - we don't, that's why we use IE6 LOL

Seriously though, you have a point here. And of course, Firefox is an even better choice.

^ agreed. I think it doesn't matter much what browser you use as long as it's properly maintained and free of security problems ... of course IE6 is still maintained by Microsoft and if there are any security issues they'll be fixed eventually, but their focus is clearly on IE7 and since it has an improved architecture many of the most recent security problems of IE applied to version 6 but not 7.

And of course there are other really, really good reasons to upgrade from 6 to 7, most notably the vastly improved performance and tabbed browsing!
